Well, well, that album looks familiar, Sam!

I saw your post with `Melrose', my CD of that is on it's way now! I won it for $4, can't complain....hopefully! Have you heard the all-digital `Optical Race'?! The whole album is on Youtube if you want to spin it. Some parts of it I really like, and the melodies are actually pretty good, but it's definitely an album that started to set a template for many of their later more uninspired pieces. This seems to be the album where most fans drop off.
It felt like I was listening for the first time, really trippy stuff. Is it just me, or the album kind of tells a story?

It certainly sounds dated but I found it enjoyable... and made me want to play 90's videogames LOL Never heard that but I will, next time I feel like listening to "the other TD".

Great call Meltdowner! Listened to it on YouTube, amazing variety of keyboard sounds in just one song, besides an excellent symphonic feeling, as usual in RPI. As I own only their last album, just guessing it would be another great acquisition, what did it feel like to you?

'The Homecoming' sounds to me like the 7 dwarfs returning home LOL, on the other hand the first couple of times that I listened to 'Landscapes' it actually managed to bring me tears to my eyes, it was a long time ago but today I actually feel I'm a proud owner of this album, one of my Camel's favourites.

Hey it's nice to see more people interested in classical music from early 19th century Thumbs Up, I still don't own this piano sonata, to be honest I'm still looking forward to acquiring quite a few of them, as well as preludes, impromptus, waltzes, chamber music, and some more mazurkas, scherzos and variations. As you can see there is still much Chopin's awesome music for me to know.

Have you already listened to the Piano Sonata No.2 in B flat minor? Regarding my feelings there’s a stunning dark side to Chopin right there, far from that angelic image of a quiet dreamy man coughing consumptively at the piano. This Sonata dates from 1839, and the first two movements are followed by the famous Funeral March, written about two years earlier but incorporated there. An amazing 'must-have' piano sonata imho.

I don't own it, I've been discovering their albums on streaming, but I hope I'll get them someday, such a great modern RPI band Thumbs Up

LOL Not one of my favourites but it's really good, and now I'm a proud owner as well. I guess many people has favourites outside the classic albums: mine are the first one and Rain Dances, what do you think of those? Smile

I wanted to listen to some calm Chopin at work, but on streaming services, classical music is so badly catalogued and most are excerpts, there's no respect for the genre. I managed to find this one though and it was just what I needed.

I probably heard that one but I don't know any of his music by name. I'll search for that one the next time I'll browse a classical vinyl bin so I can also read those human size liner notes, as Argonaught calls them LOL

From Rain Dances my favourites are the title track and Elke, yeah I know this song is another one of their kind of music to listen to especially on my bed Sleepy, but it features really stunning flute melodies.
From Mirage 'Camel - Nimrodel_The Procession_The White Rider' is their best from Mirage, hands down for me, and that White Rider's guitar session is amongst their best ever did.
No surprise for me if classical music is already the most badly catalogued in streaming services, as it will never be music to be put on a conversible car stereo system while giving some hot chicks a ride by the Miami Beach hahahahLOL

Yes, Elke is a really good track, it's the one with Brian Eno. I also like 'Unevensong' and 'One of These Days...' there's such a Canterbury feeling and great bass work on that last one Smile
'Nimrodel' is my favourite from Mirage too, but I was talking about the oftenly ignored self-titled album: I love every track of it, to me it's a very powerful and uplifting album Big smile

LOL Miami Beach? I thought you would mention Copacabana Beach Tongue

Camel's first album is a knockout, Sam, I've always loved that one. I came to it expecting it to be a disappointment, after the fanbase generally not responding as positively to it as `Mirage' onwards. I think they delivered gold right from the beginning! `Six Ate' always puts me in a great mood, `Never Let Go' is a stunner as well. Not a bad moment on that disc! Hmmm, I just realised I have barely spun any Camel albums lately.

I would highly recommend their latest live DVD `In From The Cold', where they not only play the new version of `Snow Goose' in it's entirety, but a selection of many other tracks. The playing is faultless, my prog mate and I were watching it, just in awe the whole time.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. 'Six Ate' is one of my favourites from the album, but most reviews here say it's the worst one Confused 'Arubaluba' is an awesome track too.

Yes, that DVD is from their latest tour, they played here the same setlist in March but I didn't see it Cry
