Yeah I was just jerking your chain:-P I am however branching out into other styles of music - beyond the natural abilities of my wallet, and it seems like the journey is neverending, but then again I thought the same a little while back when I was deeply immersed into a prog-spending vortex. It's a little back n forth me I guess. Yesterday fx I went from Cervello to Prodigy to Mingus. Btw do you know a Mexican band called Cabezas de Cera? They make their own wonderfully zany string instruments. Their sound is comparable to an avant soundtrack for a Robert Rodriguez flick a la Desperado w a bit of electronics and assorted horn. I think you'd like em. |

Not bad but it was only my first play. So hard to really say definitively.

I'm imagining the crossed accent between Brazil and Madeira, it sounds funny
I never went there, I'm not much of a tourist, but I heard you can visit the whole main island in a day. There are some nasty floods during the winter though. You would also probably laugh at the poor imitation of Rio de Janeiro's New Year's Eve there

This morning's list was again coloured by the upcoming AOTY deadline:
Faust - j US t (First listen and woe and behold......it sounds like FAUST) Swans - To Be Kind My Brother The Wind - There Once Was A Time..... Siinai - Supermarket Papir - llll Necromonkey - A Glimpse Of Possible Endings (This one has really won me over lately. I dug it from the get-go, but it is literally improving with every new spin. Funny my man, I was just thinking the same couple days ago. As you said I liked it from the get go but just recently all those little details really connected and the melodies have sunk deeper, it is a great album! Excellent mix of analog sounds and electronics!

Hello everyone,
Who can give me some information (name/artist) about this song? Sorry for the bad quality, but thats all i have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOfMlvi8WLM The only information i know is that it is a song from around the year 2000. Think about rock/punk bands like 'Home Grown' and 'Foo Fighters'. Thank you for helping! |

Nothing wrong with `Contagion', Sam! You should also look into `Pepper's Ghost' and `Immortal' from the same Arena period if you liked that one! Pretty soon you'll have to look into Pendragon as well!
Tonights choices, some more ambient titles, as well as a dash of RPI...but what a dash! Scott Lawlor - Deadelus Cousin Silas - The Dying Lights La Distillerie di Malto - Suono! Tangerine Dream - Optical Race - Sam, how funny you mention that the late 80's era of Tangerine Dream sounded like videogame music. I came across this detail in the `Optical Race' booklet, and here's what wikipedia says - "the band's first to be programmed largely with a computer, an Atari ST..." Now that takes me back to my early gaming years! |

Thanks, those two are on my list now. I already listened to some Pendragon albums, I started with 'The Window of Life' and you recommended other 3 albums: I still have to check 'The World'.
Ahahah awesome, classic computer! I have one from the rivals that still works, a Commodore Amiga. The Atari ST was the first with MIDI controllers though Today so far: La Maschera di Cera - Petali di Fuoco Supersister - Spiral Staircase Secret Oyster - Straight to the Krankenhaus |
