inspired project with Jerome Froese and Johannes Schmoelling Clap)
Ozric Tentacles - Curious Corn

`One Night in Africa' is much better than I expected, Sam. I kind of dreaded it was going to be full all sorts of clichéd tribal chants/Lion King sounds . It's very melodic, with lots of variety to the beats. A perfect background listen to wind down to.

Will have to look into that `Loom' band, very curious.

Speaking of, I've actually got the CD of `Curious Corn' expected any day now, I'd ordered some TD discs and noticed the vendor had that Ozrics one for a few dollars, so I added it to the pile. I have heard it before (but not in years), but I don't think (unless I have a vinyl of it lurking somewhere?!) I've ever owned a copy.

Yes, I was expecting some of those clichés too, but fortunately there were none.

Their album is on Spotify, by the way

It didn't seem their best work to me, but it's highly enjoyable, as always Smile

I'm listening to Myriad Stars from Alpha Wave Movement, very nice music Thumbs Up

Michael how is this album?
I have two albums by them The Voyage and Mind Volume I, the later being simply superb and highly recommended!

Update, my friend!

I don't know what to make of it....It's kind of like a grander take on chamber prog, like a more symphonic version of Present, with strong classical elements. How does that sound in line with the ones you've got? At this stage, I think it's more `interesting' than something I really love? But I know it's something that will take a ton of listens to get, and I wonder if I've got it in me to do it?
Yo Mike sorry for taking me so long to reply.
Well you pretty much described their style, I agree it's not an easy listening but definitely worth the time. I don't know the album you're referring to so I can't really say if it's worth it but especially Mind Volume is a superb piece of music, it's thee album that made me understand and like some chamber in my prog. There's something natural about their sound and maybe due to the fact that it's not so dissonant made it an easier experience.
Try this thing here if you have the time...

Ayreon-- the theory of everything (both discs)
Headspace--I am Anonymous ( I wonder how many out there know just how unbelievably amazing this album is.;)
PFM--Per un Amico
NIGHTWISH- Imaginarium ( original and instrumental discs. Lovely album)
Threshold--For The Journey. ( still really enjoying this one. ;)
Brian Eno--Ambient music 4: on land
While Heaven Wept--Suspended at Aphelion
Devil Doll--Eliogabulas ( with each listen I respect this album more and more.)

I don't think you'll be sorry listening to that one. It took me, however, a few spins to fully appreciate its magnificence.
I've been saying this a lot lately Sam, but I feel at this time that Damian Wilson vocals are the best in all of modern day Prog metal or metal related acts right now. Also, Adam Wakeman doesn't play like his dad! He's his own man. :)
Hope you enjoy the album as much as I have. One of 2012's very best easily.

Just amazed by my new discoveries, these are my today's 'Top 5':

Steve Hillage - Green
Amazing guitar playing coloured with multiple guitar synth effects in such a catchy music!

Nascita Della Sfera - Per Una Scultura Di Ceschia
THIS is a genuinely new experience in music that I never had before, while finding so many subtle nuances here I didn't realize I was gradually getting immersed in such an exciting 'viaggio'!

Cherry Five - Cherry Five
So much RPI energy and passion here! Their catchy dynamism is really 'fire' setting!

Osanna - Palepoli
So captivating, original, passionate music!

Il Balletto Di Bronzo - Ys
Wow! What a damn thrilling atmosphere! Besides the exciting guitars providing an extra strenght to such an original music.
