Arena – The Unquiet Sky
Lizard’s Exist – s/t
Black Widow – Return to the Sabbat
Arena, Di Tollo, Marras - ADM
Scott Lawlor - Neptune (one of my favourite ambient releases)

Alphataurus – s/t - finally got a nice new CD of this to replace my scrappy vinyl copy, such an amazing Italian album, so many different sounds and ideas. When I first started getting into the Italian prog albums, Museo Rosenbach’s `Zarathustra’ and this one were my first loves! You never forget your first time and all, in this case I was double teaming right from that start! Do you know this one, Sam?

Waiting for your opinion on that one... Tongue

LOL I heard it once last year on Youtube, the cover looked really cool and the music was even better Big smile The first RPI album I listened was Per Un Amico, since I was discovering the Top Albums list. I was studying through the night and this fantastic album really helped me Smile

Hmm, some interesting choices there, Sagi!

How did you find the Barracuda Triangle?! I really dig it, some cool stuff on that one! If you have the CD, check out Bodin's keyboard list that takes up almost an entire page of one of the pages of the digi-pack!

Morte Macabre - a damn Mellotron classic!

I really love that Pendragon `Believe' album. How great is Mr Barrett's acousatic playing on that one?! Man, some clunky lyrics here and there, though, I think he gets a little too ambitious from time to time! If you eventualy get their latest one, I'd love to know your thoughts on it.

is the new Arena out?

That was actually about two days worth, so I was cheating!

Yes, the new Arena is sort of out! I ordered the CD directly from the band, it was released on the 23rd of March and arrived four days later, pretty fair effort considering I live in Australia! I think it mentioned on their page that the general release is in about three weeks from now, but you could get in early by ordering it straight from the band. It's a great album! It's still very much in the hard-rock vein as their previous disc, but there's a lot more symphonic elements added back in, and the singer shows a lot more variety this time around. I think most Arena fans will love it

Sezione Franante is an Italian band (formed in the 70's, never recorded an album at the time, but reformed a few years back) that I should be adding to the site (if all goes to plan! ) when I get home from nightshift in a few hours! Yes, I'm busily wrapping up all the bio, CD details and review, slowly but steadily falling further behind at work as we speak!

I kid you not, Sam, its a pretty great disc. It's got a rougher, more low-fi production quality that actually makes it sound like a real deal lost 70's album!

I think I enjoyed the Opeth a little more, but honestly, it was more a background listen, so I wasnt paying close attention! Do I dare give it a spin on headphones tonight?!

Hey KangarooSmile

What are your thoughts on the new SWilson album? I rather dig it myself and think the new/old warmer and at times poppier approach suits him well. I hear a few references stretching back to Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream, but somehow this album feels more uplifting than any of these (which is something of a head-scratcher considering the theme of the albumConfused)

Me today:
The Orb w/ David Gilmour - Metallic Spheres (For some reason I always imagine this as a great river raft soundtrack)
Exmagma - Goldball (Krautjazzrock with stilts)
Nichelodeon - Ukiyoe (Beyond stickers...but man is it ever good)
Dead Can Dance - Into the Labyrinth (Ethereal folk from an Indian bazaar meets Jim Morrison and a female yodeller)
Emeralds - s/t (2009) (Wonderful modern take on the Berlin School of old with a few nice titbits thrown in for good measure. The perfect companion to your morning coffee)
Walter Wegmüller - Tarot (Allstar lineup from the German Krautrock lands with Schulze, Manuel Göttsching, Hartmut Enke, Harald Grosskopf, Jürgen Dollase, Walter Westrupp and Jerry Berkers)
Aphex Twin - Syro (His best work since the mid 90s imo)
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Revelation (strong album yet again from BJM. This one alongside 2013s Aufheben are really strong comebacks for the group)
“The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

That seems nice, I don't know where I can listen to it, but I'll search better later Smile

At least you can listen to it in some way, it's not bad Tongue
