Last night, to commemorate its 1st anniversary, I listened to The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories) by Steven Wilson. Followed (just because I felt like it) by Beware of Darkness by Spock's Beard.

(Re: Weasels Ripped my Flesh)

Like very much! It's one of his that I haven't paid much attention to because it's so "Difficult" but lately I've been looking for a lot more challenging stuff because I'm tired of so much normal music. There are parts that are actually quite beautiful and parts that are quite ugly. I love that.

The past couple of days I went on another VdGG binge to try and 'get' some albums I've been having 'issues' with:

Godbluff - I finally get it.....great album!
Still Life - still have issues, too sensitive or something...kinda twee almost in a strange way...not my thing.
Pawn Hearts - It drives me nuts that I can't get into this album, but I can't. I like parts of the songs, but as a whole they turn me off at some point. This album just irks the hell out of me.
Trisector - oddly enough I really dig this one. Lots of guitar and a stripped-down approach...no reed instruments & such. I dig this one.
The Aerosol Grey Machine - I kinda like this one...groovy psychedelic rock with some acoustic folky influences.

My favs are still Least and H To He, but man Godbluff is right up there and catching up fast...so angry at times ( I love that).

Trisector does not get enough love. I am quite fond of the album (even if I 'hear' the missing reeds in my mind occasionally).

As for Pawn Hearts, give it a listen a couple of times a year and see if it "hits" you at some point. It very well might!
