Hey I have this album, I don't remember ever playing though...

It's kind of nice, Sagi, really melodic and pleasant mostly instrumental stuff...but damn the compositions are repetitive, and most of them go about three times as long as they should.

I bought it recenty in an odd double CD collection that also had this album with it (perhaps you've heard it?):

M.Efekt - Svitanie

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=7072

Will try and listen to that one at work tonight.

What are you kidding me??? Tongue

I'm raving about this album/band from day one!!
Modry Efekt is probably the best band coming out of the Czech Republic, guitarist Radim Hladik is insanely good, hell...the whole band is freakin' amazing. That period from the band is highly prolific, releasing one outstanding album after the other, until 1981 when their final album released, also a full blown prog album. I hope their gonna hit you like they hit me...enjoy buddy!! Thumbs Up

Terrific, got me pumped up now, Sagi! I've added it to the pile, got some cool stuff lined up for tonight's nightshift block! Will report back before the morning!

(of course, I'll probably be hovering around the forum all night like always anyway!)

Meltdowner!! Love how long Steven's hair still back then!

That's definitely earlier then some of the DVD-r's I've got. Thanks for sharing!

He looks like Gilmour in the 70's. Tongue
I just watched the entire show and it's really great: they created a dark and simple atmosphere, it's like they were playing for a really small audience.
They weren't playing with backing tracks because they left them in the UK and so they played Burning Sky without sampled drums, maybe that's where he had the idea to re-record it. Nevertheless it was still well played, Chris Maitland is an awesome drummer. Smile

Thanks, Meltdowner, soon I've got some days off, so I'll watch the whole thing properly!

Sagi, I'm grooving to this killer right now, do you know this one?

You are in for a real treat with Svítanie, Michael. I know you like that sensuous guitar feel, and this baby is full of it, albeit dressed up in some impossibly pretty jazz rock a la Arti e Mestieri;-)

I know the band from reading reviews and some posts around here, but I never found any of their albums. Thanks I'll check that link when I'll get home later.

Synaesthesia - s/t
Porcupine Tree - Metanoia (it's a good album overall but in my opinion not as good as the other albums from the psychedelic period. I think 3 PA stars is a fair rating Smile)
IQ - Tales From the Lush Attic (I'm starting to listen their discography: I hope it gets better Ermm)
Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg

Aussie-Byrd-Brother, I read your thread about about Light Year: if it's not Jazz Rock I don't know what it is, although I think they have some similarities with Birds and Buildings and they are Eclectic Prog.

Is this worth a spin?  I have their first album and enjoyed it quite a bit.

It's not as good as the first one but it has some great songs. In the Castle is one of my favourites in it. Have you checked his solo album? I think it is better then both Wolfmother's albums at least it has some more variety between songs.

Not yet, but it has piqued my interest since I recently discovered Wolfmother had released a third, digital-only album a month or two ago and his solo album also came up.  It's definitely on my "to-do" list.

Did you listen to the third album? I think it's their worst release: imature and extremely boring Dead

It's pretty early here still, but I've managed to get through three albums already:

Nichelodeon - Enfant et mineure
Espers - debut

Now finishing Pescado Rabioso's Artaud:-)
RPI people, and especially lovers of Battisti's Anima Latina take notice. This is like an Argentinian take on it.

Next will probably be Alan Goraguer's La Planete Sauvage.
