I am listening to 'The Long Division' by 3RDegree. I have to also say that 'Elephant' by Tame Impala reminds me of early Pink Floyd and I like that very much

Yesterday:

Gentle Giant-The Power and The Glory
ELP-Tarkus
Yes-The Ladder

Earlier:

Yes-Tales From Topographic Oceans

Right now in the process of listening to

King Crimson- Thrak(first listen) KC always evolving and changing members this time adding Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto. To me it sounds like post- Industrial music(if there is one genre I can't stand it's post- Industrial) but that's me.

PM2112, you might want to approach the follow-up album `ConstruKCtion of Light' with caution then (if you were planning on getting to that one too), it's a very metallic, noisy and impossibly cold beast! I happen to rather like it, but it's certainly even more in that `post-industrial' style, as you put in, than `Thrak'!

Not the dog of an album it's made out to be, but not very well liked by many fans at the same time!

Haha good to hear lol! I'll be interested to read how you go with it!

Now...`The Power To Believe' after that one, now THAT is a terrific album! Truly sounds cutting edge, modern, inventive, not a bunch of tired old men playing it safe! REALLY hope you like that one! :)

For my first listen to Thrak I really didn't like it. I mean we have 6 really talented musicians who did nothing impressive(I don't want to start a fight or anything). They had no counter rhythms within the context of the double trio and Adrian did his best to sound like George Harrison and John Lennon,  nothing new really. A waste, really. And I don't want to start anything Wink. I've actually listened to Level Five from The Power To Believe

Well, you've encouraged me to dig out my CD of `Thrak' when I get home, I haven't listened to it in years, don't even have it on my Ipod here at work (I think!). So now I'LL have to report back on what I thought!

I'm sure you won't regret it. As awesome as their debut is, the second one is even better, it's a bit more mature, they seemed to be working on their melodies and refining them to the point of perfect. If you don't mind the beautiful vocals in turkish then you are in for a treat.
