There isn't a thread here yet so I figured I'd post one. Passed away earlier this week. There are almost definitely bigger Hawkwind fans here than me who can post their commiserations, so I'll leave it to them.

I don't really have much to say about it. I'll just leave my favourite recording of my favourite Hawkwind song, which he played on

RIP

Very sad news.  Had the conciderable pleasure of seeing him with Hawkwind at least a couple of times in the Eighties.

According to Hawkwind he passed away last night.

RIP

That makes three this week, dang it.

Great guitarist.  Might have to listen to Levitation now myself.

Really sad news.  I saw them many times back in the seventies/eighties.  A great loss

He is not on the 2 Hawkwind albums I have but it's certainly a sad news.

you need Hall Of The Mountain King and Warrior On The Edge Of Time ASAP!!!!

also this is sad, rip. I remember Langton had a really funny story in the BBC documentary on Hawkwind. They were playing in one of those inflated room things and the generator broke down so the whole place was slowly collapsing as everyone freaked out inside. he said he felt like he was descending into hell as he walked down to the stage and then the acid got too much and he ended up on his knees praying to god for safety cause he though the was gonna die. later one one of the bandmates told him how they liked his little praying trick and they thought it was really neat and effective and Langton was like "he didn't understand that I reaaally meant, I was really praying there!" hahaha gave me a good chuckle when i watched that part

Having said I saw him with Hawkwind live a couple of times in the Eighties.  There was one time I didn't see him with Hawkwind in the Eighties!  In 1981 I went to see them at Peterborough and it turned out when they came on stage there was no Huw.  Apparently, a little before the gig he had got into an argument with some geezer and the said geezer lamped him one.  Broke his nose.Just before the gig he had to go into hospital as his nose started bleeding and would n't stop.  So no Huw.  (Ginger was at the back though so that was interesting)

I did catch him next time round though.  RIP

Awful news....but he'll live on through his work on so many fascinating Hawkwind albums beloved by fans.

The `Live Chronicles' album is one I give a lot of spins when I'm on nightshift, bit of a favourite of mine, as well as the studio album `Chronicle of the Black Sword' it backs with.

Just saw thisOuch. I understand he had been battling cancer but had a great outlook and sense of humour through it all, still playing his guitar. He was at home with his family by his side.
