The new album by Focus is called X (as in ten). However, this is the eleventh album to have the name Focus on it. Are the band not counting the Focus Con Proby album or the Akkerman and Thijs Van Leer album from 1985? Does anyone know for sure?

Maybe they don't count "Ship Of Memories": I understood from the reviews on this site that that is an album containing rest tracks, left overs.

I don't know for sure, but I always assumed it was the Akkerman/Van Leer 85 album that was not counted as an official Focus album.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

This. Officially it's an album by Thijs van Leer and Jan Akkerman, not by Focus, despite "Focus" being the title of the album.

It seems a little odd that they only have 10 official studio albums over 40 years. I love 8 and 9 but not so much the latest although its okay and might grow on me.

Yes, I'm convinced now that this is the right answer.

Yep, that sounds about right. It seems to me that Focus is the name of the album. They probably did that in order to confuse people.Confused
