I've been into Camel for a long time. As mentioned several times, this is a tough poll. I'm a little surprised that Hawkwind and Greenslade are so low but there is a lot of competition. I have some music by Curved Air but I prefer Darryl Way's Wolf with John Etheridge on guitar.

Eh, don't like any of the bands here. I find VdGG too overrated (except Pawn Hearts) along with Camel (except The Snow Goose). Voted for Renaissance, but Curved Air came close.

There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...

Make your own 'third division' poll - it could also maybe include Hatfield And The North, Uriah Heep, Gryphon, UK, Nektar, Strawbs, and Traffic. Or we could all agree that this poll is severely lacking?

Always tough to decide which band belongs to which division, and if a band belongs to someone's favorites, it's hard to be objective. As for the poll: I always like a new poll

Renaissance. Camel getting so much praise is making me rethink me listening to them. And I always knew Peter Hamill being a person I'd probably really personally relate to lyrically... so the top two bands I see the merits immediately. Know Renaissance so well though so yeah.

For me, first division are Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull. Second division are Gentle Giant, Camel, VDGG, and Renaissance. Further on, I wouldn't know, but I would wonder where to put bands like Hawkwind, UK, Flash, Strawbs, Caravan, and some others mentioned on this thread that I have heard very little heard about.

There have probably been several discussions here on which bands are first or second or Nth division, included what factors decide such a thing.

I don't have much affection for VdGG and really don't care for Hawkwind. The other groups I don't know, I'm sorry to say. What is Jade Warrior? Division 3? |
It's more or less my same feeling, but I have a bit more respect for Hawkwind and I think Curved Air would deserve more than one vote.
However Camel is one of my top 10 bands and the only one from the 70s able to release a masterpiece like Rajaz in 1999. |
Agree. I don't know about your vote Octopus-4 but I pick CAMEL.

It would be a coin flip for me between Camel and VDGG. I would have liked to have seen both in their prime.

I saw Hawkwind last week. They have revised their set list since last year and I thought the changes really pepped up their performance.
