London quintet with female lead vocals playing old-fashioned psych/heavy rock, heavy guitars, great analog keyboard sound. Somewhat similar to Blood Ceremony, hints of older stuff like Curved Air, too. Debut announced for early 2013, but an EP, Rocking Horse, is already out (it can be listened to here: http://www.facebook.com/pursontheband/app_182222305144028)

I personally love this, but I'm not sure how exactly it would slot into PA (as you say it's retro heavy/psyche). They actually class themselves as 'Gothic Psychedelia'! Cool

Here's a couple of sets of them playing live:

Four tracks can be listened to here: https://soundcloud.com/#purson-1, and the same tracks plus 'Rocking Horse' at the facebook link given in the o.p. - repeated here with hyperlink: http://www.facebook.com/pursontheband/app_182222305144028.

Broody, moody stuff, but not prog I'm afraid.

Hmmm, they might not be a fit for Heavy Prog after all, but I really don't think we should discard them interely as non-Prog. I mean, just listen to this from their upcoming debut, I haven't heard stuff like this since Curved Air and Rare Bird! Clap

Not wishing to contradict any colleagues here, but this band admit to a strong 70s prog/heavy influence and numerous sites highlight their prog tendencies. Just listen to those guitars and Mellotrons, oh man! Their full album will be released, I think, on 8th April. If it's more of the same as the EP I would support their inclusion. I also think I read somewhere that they've supported Blood Ceremony and Motorpsycho...

SPIN is streaming Purson's debut album, The Circle and the Blue Door. No better time for an evaluation, methinks.Any takers, teams?

Nope, can't get that Spin stream to work.
No matter, I've pre-ordered the CD from Amazon so should have it by Tuesday.

My first impression of the album is psych-pop with some prog tendencies. The only place I can see where this might fit is Crossover.

Great to see these included on PA. I've been really excited by what I've heard from them so far and have their album on order.
