maybe seminal mainstream metal band? they're really not that impressive or significant in the grand spectrum of metal, besides giving birth to a whole new trend of hipster metal, which I don't think deserves praise.

I agree with you on Mastodon, but I've never heardof Naam before, so no vote. Time for some exploring me thinks.

Just checked out Naam on the archives here and they're listed under Psych/Space with single album and little to no ratings. No samples either so I couldn't say what they are like.

trying some Naam on youtube and they seem pretty predictable stoner/doom so far... though much more enjoyable than Mastodon at least

lol at that video. really not sure how this is metal of the century
material, sounds like just standard hipster-friendly stoner/doom with a
bit more cliche psych elements. not nearly as heavy and unique as
something like say, Electric Wizard's Dopethrone, which came out at the
beginning of the century

they just have that tone, and really good musicianship and out there vocals,
their 2012 EP is a really cool music, they are to me more catchy then most stoner/doom that i have heard, and certain hooks is important impressions in music for me, i like that it is layerd and have certain colours.. |

well when it comes to a statement as bold as "metal band of the century", you have to go a bit beyond opinions. I wouldn't claim my favorite metal bands are the best or most important, you have to really look at the grand spectrum of metal and see what significance a group actually holds to the genre as a whole...

"two of the best metal bands of the century"
You are, of course, completely entitled to your opinion, however completely wrong it may be.

my statements is always bold, im mr bold, i like being that, making claimst, overstateing just to start arguments, provokie people, get attention towards things,
also i have very good sence of melodies and harmonies and chods structures, and when they all clicks i know im listening to big things that other people will regard as good stuff. Naam is the best psych stoner/doom band i found when i had a two month orgy of only listening to stoner/doom, they stood out the most for me, but also Stoned Jesus is also very good |

Mastodon are to me the most relevant and evolving metal band who went form being unknown to steadaly evolve and to never have dissapointed me and have 5 albums i can listen to in different moods, and gives me 5 different things, i try to hear each album in each of their own classic elements in my mind, Fire (Remission), Water (Leviathan), Earth (Blood Mountain), Aether (Crack the Skye) and Wood (the Hunter), and i hope to give more atteniton to Naam, (which only was a lame marketing trick to atract them more listeners.
