Neal Morse solo stuff is better than all the options listed.

But I voted for The Flower Kings.

That Whirl-tour album/DVD was the first thing I got from Transatlantic, and I really loved the Whirlwind set, it's just a perfect piece of music... whether I consider it one song or a set of linked songs (I rather see it this way)... except for the last "song", it sort of feels out of place for me, bland, but besides that one it's a perfect flow of music. There's more things to love from the choices from the other albums, but for me this is the best music Transatlantic has done.

1. Marillion
2. Spock's Beard
3. Flower Kings
4. Transatlantic - up until Morse had his epiphany
5. Dream Theater - just can't grock James LaBrie
I'd much rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

I give you that point for the studio Beer

On stage it really doesn't make a difference if it's a long song (with varied movements, actually) or a sequence of a hundred tracks - the music flows continuously and you enjoy it  (or not...) non-stop, what could be better?
BTW Mike makes his usual stunts - what a drummer - that are a real treat to watch Cool

I bet he is great, but the whole 70 minutes song is just too much...

Whirlwind did not do much for me, I have 4 Marillion DVDs, I'd watch those over Transatlantic any time.

Interesting poll........based on pevious post s on PA I thought Dream Theater (or FK) would get the most and Marillion the least.. I find the later Marillion lp's after Fish to be smewhat boring except for a track here and there...and Dream Theater has too much of that chug chug prog metal guitar for me.

I went with Spocks Beard....imho their first 5 cd's are all very good.

This is a tough one; I've never listened to Marillion, but I love the rest of these bands.

I guess I'll go with DT.

Preach it!
Neal is THE MAN. Have not heard a bad thing from him yet.

(BTW - whirlwind....blown away...hahaha)

Neal is da man wit da plan. But seriously aside from that vernacular Neal is great!!!

Up until the recent-ish vinyl issues of select 'H'-era Marillion albums, everything up to and including 'Afraid Of Sunlight' did it for me in one way or another - didn't bother with them for years after that - then I've gone out on a limb and purchased 'Marillion.com' & 'This Strange Engine' LP's - there are some genuine pearls to be found amongst the oysters - for sure there are more commercially minded tracks throughout, but when they do 'prog-out', they still got it !!!
I am blown away more with Spock's Beard and Transatlantic though.  I don't get much out of D.T.
And me, for some stupid reason, voted for Marillion in some drunken stupor one night when it was meant to be Spock's Beard......Wacko
