The duo consisting of instruments invented by one of the members: a "buke" (six-string baritone ukelele), and a "gase" (guitar/bass hybrid; known as a "gass" on their first album, but changed to avoid mispronunciation). Percussion is handled by the feet of both members. Despite their strange instrumentation, they are definitely rock and certainly proggy. They have one album and two EPs out. A second full-length is going to be released on Jan. 29. Here is their site: http://www.bukeandgase.com/index2.html   Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buke_and_Gase

As well as the soundcloud streams on their website, all their stuff is on bandcamp too: http://bukeandgase.bandcamp.com, but streaming of the new album hasn't been enabled on there yet.

However, the new album can be listened to in its entirety here: http://www.npr.org/2013/01/20/169450465/first-listen-buke-and-gase-general-dome Thumbs Up

I agree this duo definitely belong on here, but I'm wondering if this might be worth a shot in RIO/Avant or Eclectic before Crossover get their hands on it?

So far I've only watched the tubes here a couple of times each but will have a further listen to the other stuff tomorrow. First impressions? Weird kinda punky-folk with some odd metres and rhythms but not really adventurous enough for Avant in my opinion. Don't really see them in Eclectic either, I think Crossover might be their only real shot. Hopefully Keishiro will see this and chip in with his thoughts regarding Avant.

Checked their videoclips above and agreed with Chris. For me sounds not so experimental / improvised nor complex / discordant but a bit punkish and poppy ... post-punk blended with folk? Crossover may be their only place, methinks.
