It seems to be a big topic of debate on most music websites I've ever visited. Which is better: Spirit of Eden or Laughing Stock by the band Talk Talk, which was once upon a time, a synth pop / new-wave band who had transformed into a progressive/post-rock/jazz/ambient conglomeration of pure excellence.

Which do you think is the superior record? I personally have a very close bond with Spirit of Eden: it simply speaks to me more than Laughing Stock, although both are excellent. What do you think?

My god, I love this band, specifically for these last two albums of course. Big smile Some of the best music, ever, well in my opinion anyway, captured on tape right here. Really, both of these album are truly magical and have this really special aura surrounding both - very enigmatic and spiritual. My favourite's probably Laughing Stock, without a doubt. A much more down to earth and organic record - it's great.

I used to like Laughing Stock more. I first heard it in 2004. I thought it was awesome while Spirit of Eden felt too ambient-ish, not enough groove for me.

Now I prefer Spirit of Eden. Laughing Stock doesn't have the same lasting quality. It's still very good, though.

I'm just starting to get into these guys. So far I like both albums equally. Can't choose between them at this point. My two favourite tracks are "Inheritance" and "New Grass". Can't choose between them either, so I'd say it's a definite tie for meSmile

Laughing Stock is great but Spirit beats just about every album ever made.

Laughing Stock for me - like mentioned above... Spirit of Eden can get too ambient for me. I still like it though.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.
