While waiting for the new album, it's a nice thing to go through the other two Steven's solo albums.

So, which one do you prefer of these two?

I totally love Grace for Drowning, but I confess I haven't listened to Insurgentes more than a couple of times, back when it was released.  So I'll abstain, but I did want to say a quick "hooray" for Grace.  I think it's one of the best albums Wilson has ever done, with PT or otherwise.

Grace for Drowning by an infinite number of times.

But to be honest, Raven is better than Grace by a large amount, too.

Grace for Drowning is superior, but Insurgentes is excellent too. Voted for Insurgentes 'cos soon there would be a lot of votes for GfD.

My choice too.
I remember that Steven said in an interview that Insurgentes was mainly inspired by post-punk and noise (the music he was raised with), and Grace for Drowning by jazz and prog, which is continued on The Raven.

Nice avatar too! (in fact, mine is supposed to be Byrne too)

I like them both, but Grace.

BTW, fairly new Steven Wilson interview here - http://www.examiner.com/article/steven-wilson-reflects-on-his-incredible-career

Yea i recognized Bryne immediately.

I love the noise influences on the album, it isn't alienating like the actual genre plus i find No Twilight to be a Swilson masterpiece.

I really liked Grace for Drowning a lot. However, don't yet know Insurgentes, I'm wondering whether to get it or not. I guess I'll end up getting it, though I don't know how long I'll take to get there.

I absolutely love Grace for Drowning, I think it's such an amazing album, definitely one of my favourites of all time. I actually haven't heard all the songs off Insurgentes, I'd like to buy it but I can't find it anywhere for a reasonable price. So I won't vote. I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the Raven, so I'm looking forward to that very much.

I've replayed GFD so many times, I have to vote for that. Although, that may just be because it has more material. It's a close call, but I guess I ultimately enjoyed that new direction towards jazz more.

I think Insurgentes is the best thing Steven has done yet. GfD was okay, but a bit derivative.

Not a fan of the solo work, pales next to PT.  But I give Insurgentes a slight nod.

Now that I've gotten Insurgentes, I can say that I prefer Grace for Drowning. Insurgentes is great though.

I love both albums.

Grace For Drowning is excellent, but I certainly prefer Insurgentes of the two.

Looking forward to Raven (I have that on pre-order, how have so many people already got it Confused already?) and to seeing the man and his band at Manchester Academy in 2-3 weeks time.

It leaked about 2 months ago. One of the earliest leaks I've seen, but I wasn't going to order it, then I heard the leak and now I have, so I suppose he got an extra sale.
