^ Both are entitled to add you to the artist listings inasmuch as they are of sufficient rank to do so, but seventhsojourn is not a member of the Crossover team, so wouldn't normally get involved with that team's additions (he is a member of the RPI team, as well as being the main person responsible for screening and channelling to the most appropriate team any new suggestions that are made in this forum). Evolver is also a member of the JR/F team, and doesn't tend to deal with many additions in Crossover...As far as I am aware, the bulk of the Crossover additions are handled by Windhawk, who tends to add the cleared artists in batches - often half a dozen or more at a time. He is usually pretty good at keeping the backlog of cleared artists to a minimum, so I would imagine you'll be added fairly soon now.
You could perhaps speed the process up by submitting a biography (I can't see any reason why artists should not be allowed to write their own biography, but I'm not totally sure on this to be honest). There isn't a great deal of background info on either your official website or your facebook page, so a brief paragraph or so about your musical career to date and how the album was conceived would certainly be a big help, I would think. You could send it in a private message to Evolver (or Windhawk), or simply add it right here as another post in the thread.

Thank you Yam Yam, for clearing that up. Guess I didn't get the memo. As a "newbie", it's somewhat daunting to get a grip on how this site works. Are Evolver or Seventhsojourn entitled to add me to the artist listings? Thanks again. Looking forward to Kev's review here on the PA.

Johannes was cleared for addition 13 days ago, but I don't have the necessary privileges to add him, as it requires SC status for this. Any of the other Crossover team members can do this, but sadly I can't.

Guys
Any idea when Johannes will be added to the artist listings? I wrote a review of the album a little while ago and I would like to be able to post it up on the site. Cheers Kev

I just heard Johannes' new album. It's great!
Definitely sounds more prog than new age to me. Reminds me of Jon Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillow". Production values are top-notch: audiophiles will be happy. I love the album art too. Congrats, Johannes! |

^ I appreciate what you are saying but I don't think there is enough of a rock element to warrant a place in Symphonic here. That's just my personal opinion of course, but it's in the hands of the Crossover Team now - let's wait and see what they say. For me, the main thing is to have you added to the PA database somewhere so that members can post reviews of your album.
It's not unusual for artists to be moved from one subgenre to another even after they've been on the site for some time - there are thousands of bands and artists listed on PA and the various subgenre labels are really only to help guide members and visitors to broadly similar music. Your music will still be as lovely whether it's in Cross or Folk or Symph.

Like I said earlier, I'll let you guys decide what category best fits my music. However, after just reading the PA's definition of Symphonic Prog, I got to say, that it pretty much describes what I do:

Definitely worth a shot in Crossover - would get a 'yes' from me despite the 'New Age' aspect to the music that has been mentioned here. I'll add it to progfreak and see where we go with it: http://progfreak.com/Johannes-Luley-155497.html?path=pa/recent.

Thank you for your kind words about MV. As for Tales From Sheepfather's Grove, to be placed in the same stylistic vein as "Olias" is an honor. I'll let others decide in which category my record best fits. I wouldn't mind the company of Oldfield or the Moody Blues either. After all, I played on one of Justin Hayward's record way back in the 90's. Check it out:

I haven't heard the 10-minute Atheos Spiritualis in its entirety yet but I've listened to the other nine tracks several times. I'm inclined to agree with Frank (infocat) that the album sounds quite World/New Age in the vein of Olias of Sunhillow. With respect, Johannes, I don't see this fitting Symphonic Prog as it is understood on PA. On the strength of Tales From Sheepfather's Grove my feeling is that Crossover Prog would be the most suitable place for your solo work. Crossover Prog includes Mike Oldfield and The Moody Blues so perhaps you'll see my thinking. Prog Folk might be another option but I'm not sure how the album would run there. David (yam yam) of the Crossover Team is an ever-present here so hopefully he'll chime in with his thoughts, although I'd be curious to hear other members' opinions as well of course.By the way, I've also been listening to the Moth Vellum album... really great stuff, any Symph fans reading this who haven't heard it should definitely check it out.

Hi Johannes, artists don't add their own bandpages to the PA database. Once an artist/band is cleared for addition by a genre team, a member of that team handles the addition although any information provided is helpful regarding a bio etc.

Thank you very much. If it is helpful, I can also make a zip folder of the album available. Just tell me how to upload it to your server. I will include all liner notes, credits and lyrics, if desired. My guess is, the sub genre would be symphonic. Any suggestions on how to create my artist page at PA is appreciated. Moth Vellum has one, but I guess I should have a new one for my solo project.

Hmm... I'm most of the way through the album now (2 tracks to go). Rather new-agey if you ask me... Not much in the way of Rock. Just IMHO...

For those who have it: http://open.spotify.com/album/0lvUNkohWqlm173PdE5diK Edit: Nine of the ten songs are on myspace too: http://www.myspace.com/johannesluley/music/albums/tales-from-sheepfather-s-grove-18909697 Just the long (10mins) ninth track 'Atheos Spiritualis' is missing.

Hi Johannes, Welcome to PA and thanks for the suggestion.
We really need full samples of the music so we know which subgenre would suit best. Anyway, I enjoyed listening to the short samples on google etc. so I have already ordered a copy of the album from your website. Once the CD arrives the New Suggestions Team will decide which genre team to pass you on to for a formal evaluation. Please bear with us in the meantime, we'll be on this as soon as possible. You might want to edit the thread title to include your name so it shows up in searches.
