If I can find an ear for this stuff anywhere. it's gonna be here. I'll be a 'lurker' no longer! It's half an album/story.

Me and my little windows XP. . .   (Ta for listening folks) xxxxx

First song on the album, potentially.

Real musicianship, deep into it...Elaborate stuff !
Sounds could mix better, esp. the drums too sharp to fit with the guitar's warmer sound.
( Who am I to type this  )

Links to several styles and bands from now to back in early hard rock times...Dinosaurs references: Too Many Voices reminds me of BSabbath's Into The Void and its intro LZep's No Quarter !

Where's Story Thus Far ?

Ah, thanks so much, jayem.

I really appreciate your comments. They are more than welcome, every one. Evidentally, you have a great ear, proved by the way you isolated that drum sound.

At the point where I programmed the drums on this one, I used a Metallica-ish kit. I've moved to a 'warmer' kit since

I'll try to find 'Story Thus Far', and post it shortly. Please bear in ming that i'ts in a state of flux, though.

But, for now, I've put some (damn rough) vox over this one:

Cheers,my friend.

Found it!

*Warning*:  Some of the timings may make a person nauseous.  ;)

Half an album. (Would have been a 'double album' in the good old days!)

Ha ha! Are you that lucky ?

CORNERS

I've listened to it and the drums mix OK with the guitar now. Well done!

Now it seems there's added stuff, samples, voices and effects, that cover the core parts, which power cannot be felt the same because of the many sounds added. Maybe you prefer it "crowdy".

Let's also notice that you don't mind having samples echo themselves at the same or at a close pitch of one another, a very basic treatment while your gt-bs-dr section and structure feels much more thought out.

I'd vote for the first rendering with the drums mixed like in this one.

STORY THUS FAR

...I'd EQ voice to more presence in most loud moments, add less reverb at some places; also wouldn't use samples with everyday or clearly recognizable voices or devices in the instrumental parts, when the music takes me into other worlds. Too many parts in C or D; too long at same pace

"Some of the timings may make a person nauseous." You mean complex timings? They can be very exciting if we feel like we're going somewhere.

Well? I hope at least part of this is relevant, and my best wishes...

(PS: I'm not a doctor. If water is available someone clean the hand so any physician who sees it can give the most accurate possible advice...=joke...)

You NAILED it, my friend. It's a funny thing, how one adds more, only to have the dawning realisation that 'less is . . .'

I do it every time. ;)

Anyhoo, without labouring the point, all I can say is a huge THANK YOU for your insights (which are scalpel like and cut to the bone in the most welcome way).

I'm on a journey with this at the mo, and I'm damn grateful that I've had your company along the way.

Again, a massive thanks.

Always liked this tune. It  just needed a ruining:

I'm asking sound experts: isn't that a great mix ?

You say "ruining" because of the (otherwise no less than soulful)  voice that would need some tuning here and then ?

This shows how a well crafted musical skeleton can generate very different renderings.

I cannot  judge my own comments since you've removed the track, but hope many PA members will find interest in your projects of course.

My apologies for deleting, my friend. But I do it all the time. I'm rarely - if ever - happy with results. Thanks, once again, for your continued support. I genuinely appreciate it.
