two very different albums, one so smooth you could have it on a cake, andother so very much different, both influened the sound of 80s in their way,

Avalon have a overworthly production and textures, and Discipline have a very exotic feel and rythmicaly complex two counteroppesites of 80s music..

I really love Avalon, one of the few goodies of the 80s.

Avalon by miles.

It's the best Roxy Music album - Take a chance with me is the highlight, but it's all very good (and that's from someome who's not a great fan of Bryan Ferry's voice).

I should give Avalon another listen, but from what I remember nothing enthralled except for the title track.

Avalon for me; a production masterpiece IMO. I would've voted for Discipline if not for the dull and boring second side. I love the first side of the album.
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

< Do I need to hide my muse?

Avalon is a superb sonic tapistry  , very rich musically (if one takes the effort to sift through the layers of sound) .
I am a huge KC fan also but I just prefer the steamroller version with Wetton, Cross and Bruford. Discipline is a tad too clinical for my exotic/erotic tastes.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I'm a bigger fan of KC than Roxy Music, but I've never really been a big fan of Discipline. A few good tunes, but quite a cold and disjointed feel to it overall.

Avalon is a more 'pleasant' listen, so Roxy gets the vote here, I guess.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Let me be the first to vote for both.  I like both of them about equally.  Both are very enjoyable listens.

I'll give Avalon its due too.  It doesn't aim very high, but it succeeds at everything it tries.  Discipline is a lovely album too, but the closing title track just never did it for me.  A sizable blemish on an otherwise pretty flawless album.

Let me be the second.  Handshake  I enjoy both for almost completely different reasons.  When I want something intricate and choppy, there is Discipline, but for something melodic and lush, Avalon fits the bill perfectly.
