I tend to myself gravitate my interest towards the band, more interesting musical interplay, the band cooked out some really cool and eclectic rock gems in the beginning of the 70s with four gems of rock in a row, from Love it to Death to Billion Dollar Babies, there is no bad songs.
albums that are under Alice Cooper (band)
albums that are with Alice Cooper (solo)

Overall I would say the band but Welcome... is the best thing he ever did and that was solo. So both I guess.

The original band was where it was at, and they did great even without Alice as the Billion Dollar Babies with the album Battle Axe, which was better than any of Alice's solo efforts.

This is tough. There's plenty of solo albums I don't particularly care for, but my favorite stuff probably lies in his solo period. The band era was more consistent, but then again they weren't together very long. I like Alice the entertainer overall more than Alice the rocker. Voting for solo.
Edit: on reflection, I prob shoulda said Both Edited by HolyMoly - February 25 2013 at 18:01 |

Absolutely love Alice Cooper Band and all their albums except Pretties.
Only heard about 4 or 5 alice solo and they never ever reached the hight of 'the real deal'. Welcome to my nightmare is a fine album,but............

Alice Cooper Band was simply amazing in concert. Billion Dollar Babies Tour at Madison Square Garden (73?) was one of the best shows I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot).

WTMN is great but overall the band stuff trounces the solo stuff.

I'm voting both with perhaps a slight preference towards the solo period. I've laways felt School's Out and Billion Dollar Babies were overrated, while Alice Cooper Goes to Hell is underrated. Welcome To My Nightmare is his crowning achievement, however.

The band. Most of their singles were excellent and they created Halo of Flies (released as a single in the Netherlands) which stands tall among prog masterpieces.
