These options really aren't mutually exclusive, but I'd say "You liked some sides better than others" probably fits me the best. I've come to like it less over time.

At the time, I mainly listened to the first disc and ignored the second.
BTW, I love the mantra Mary recites in "Packard Goose".

I loved the Central Scroooootinizer - with some great music along the way too. Eccentric, hilarious, crass - it is all of these things. Definately original for sure.

At first I only liked the first first few songs and a couple others throughout the album, but now I love the entire thing.

Disc 1 was superior to disc 2. But as a whole, enjoyable.

Overall I was pretty disappointed by Joe's Garage. Some songshave great parts, but I rarely feel like actually listening to the whole thing. Frank was a funny guy, but here the "story" kind of got in the way of the music. Plus, The Central Scrutinizer has not aged so well.

"Watermelon in Easter Hay" makes any shortcomings of the album worth it. The use of the song at the end of the movie "Y Tu Mama Tambien" is brilliant.

I thought it was weak, the sheik was ok, if it had been just a one off, but when Joes came out, I was hoping for something less mainstreamish

This. But also based on past experience with Zappa I suspect that I wish there were no vocals would probably be my vote.
