then what the hell are you doing here? anyways it doesn't, or at least
the stuff I listen to, I can't vouch for the stuff YOU listen to, good
sir; I voted for Slayer, because of Reign in Blood; Angel of Death is
an utterly mindblowing song and with all its crazy tempo changes (like
the explosive change from the slow, chugging break riff to the
explosive psychotic solo) it's hard to believe that any prog-metal fan
wouldn't go crazy for it.

I used to hear a lot of metal, now I don't but I still can name some great thrash metal bands: Metallica (early), Megadeth, Kreator, Destruction, Death and maybe Slayer.

1. Megadeth
2. Kreator
3. Testament
4. Hunter
5. Sodom
6. Metallica
1. Sepultura, Machine Head, Pantera and Suicidal Tendences are not Thrash Metal - they are HC
2. Venom is not thrash too they were called "blacking heavy metal"

Venom for me because this is the beginning of extreme "cacophonic" / nihilist metal (in all genres, trash metal and others).

Hmmmm... tough question!
Are any of them broken up (or better yet, dead), with no possibility of further releases?

He he hee!
Well, this is a prog forum, you know, and for some of us ancient folk, 500 MPH modern metal (love those scary band names, BTW -- "Sodom" is my fave -- they must have quite the live show ) is the antithesis of prog.
If I started a "what's your favourite" disco, country, rap or punk band thread, many reactions would undoubtably be similar to mine.
Don't take it all too seriously, is my advice. (Especially don't take posts of mine with this emoticon: too seriously!)
Seriously.
