Simple. I've always thought that the picture we use for Klaus Schulze's Picture Music is the wrong one. There were 3 albums in a row of Schulze's that all had a similar warm vibe to them, a red thread, and the cover arts showed that with the coffee brown and slightly Daliesque motivs painted on. I call it the coffee trilogy, yet on PA this visual bond is not easily spotted, as we use the secondary cover with the flower.
Personally I think we should change it to the one with the man hovering over the chessboard floor. What do you guys think? The one we have(also very beautiful yes): ![]() The one I'm proposing: ![]() The other two in the "family" for reference: ![]() '

Cheesboard cover for sure. The rainbow thing near the bottom is cool on the flower one, but overall it's average to my eyes.
My favorite of the three would be Timewind though. |

I picked up the 'Flower' cover to this many moons ago - still remains my favourite Klaus cover and album.

Well i prefer the flower one. I love the colors and the contrasting "glass work" in the bottom left. Though i understand that the proposed one would probably fit better because of the obvious scheme you described.

Hey Tom. Currently it's my fave as well. I think it's his most psychedelic album, and I just love the way he makes the sequencers slush and drip. Illustrates how versatile they can be, instead of just dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun.....

Well in many ways I prefer the flower work myself, but I think it lacks the same bite and continuity feel of the chessboard one. It's more about what fits with the overall scope of things so to speak.

I choose the flower one. I simply like it better. Nothing wrong with the other one.

I agree with you, David. I just don't like slightly pale colors, ones that are not rich enough for my eye. Not only is the dude-o'er-the-chessboard cover neat in texture, but it also has rich colors and it gives off some kind of a dynamic vibe.

Didn't the original cover have Klaus' face on it? I think there were four different covers but two of them were similar. Picture Music is my fav of Klaus' solo albums, this poll reminds me that I should report the album year error: it was recorded in 1974 but released in 1975 (1973 is incorrect).

That's right. There was the this huge thing about who came first with the sequencers, and yes this is Schulze's first album with said device, yet Tangerine Dream predate him with Phaedra. EDIT: I was referring to the release date
I don't know about the face cover though...Edited by Guldbamsen - March 02 2013 at 17:25 |

I like both covers equally but voted for the chessboard as it fits in with the other two better.

On the surface, the flower version is more alluring but upon inspection I find the chessboard more captivating, intriguing, and provocative. Voted Chessboard.

Isn't there a site rule that we show the "original" album cover?
So which one is that? |
