Hello my prog friends

I wonder how many of you have noticed the more than passing resemblance between the latest Foster's commercial and the introduction to Xanadu by the popular pop group Rush?

Frankly, I would rather chew my leg off than watch an ad for this atrocious bilge which, contrary to the misconception they peddle, is actually hated and ridiculed by the Australian public.

But I did, and I freely confess, I don't see it at all.

^ It's not in the seeing but in the hearing, and I can hear the resemblance.
What?

It's true. You don't see anyone drinking it, and you certainly don't hear anyone praising it, where I come from.

Anyway...

Met a dude from Australia many years ago that verified this. He said they preferred imports....like Budweiser

And no, I don't hear the resemblance. Unless every song with a church bell reminds me of Xanadu. Or perhaps its the hidden didgeridoo part in Xanadu I have somehow missed in the last 35 years.

He may have preferred Budweiser, but the most popular beer brands in Australia are XXXX, VB, Carlton and Tooheys, and the most popular imported beer is Corona.

(I'm atypical for an Aussie in that I don't drink.)

VB (Victoria Bitter, which a slightly bitter lager ) is the best seller and actually acceptable, but the best Aussie beer I've had is Coopers Pale Ale, which is bloody gorgeous and up amongst the best British beers. A zillion times better than bloody Fosters.

And now I've listened to both again, I sort of see what you're getting at.

Yeah, Coopers Pale Ale and Coopers Sparkling Ale are good drops.  Approve
Good to know you've tried an Aussie beer other than Foster's. LOL

Sorry to the OP and others for being off topic. Embarrassed

I was a big fan of Old Australia and Sheaf Stout. Haven't seen either of them around here in many years now. Too bad, they were miles above any domestic brews here in the 1980's. Good stuff, good times.

Early 90's. He also pointed out that the large cans of Fosters were a very popular weapon against opposing fans at footy contests.

If Fosters is 'piss' then I can only wonder what Stella (''wife beater') can be described asLOL Most lager is rubbish compared to Belgium beer or a good German pils.

I drank that beer once, and while it certainly was mediocre, I didn't find it quite as bad as its reputation.
