Some kind of browsing today led me to this science fiction magazine cover from May 1988, which immediately made me think of that Aquarius album cover. That's all.

It's possible one of the guys saw that which influenced them. But the pose of a male carrying an unconscious/deceased female is a perennial image, as is the idea of falling in love with mermaids. So it's not inconceivable that it's complete coincidence.
