10 songs, 70 mins long. Also, he tried doing long tracks with numerous parts before

Yeah, song titles like Pusher Love Girl and Let the Groove Get In sound totally prog.  Spaceship Coupe though sounds more like a prog song.

Another unoriginal idea for the cover art... Paul Cusick was the first

The 2 songs he performed on SNL last weekend were not at all prog.

However, many years ago, when a bunch of mu son's elementary school friends found out that we subscribed to HBO, they came over to watch an N'SYNC concert on that channell.  The concert sucked, but as the backing band played over the closing credits, they incorporated a long stretch of Rush's Tom Sawyer into the music.  It was as if they wantes to say "See? We ARE real musicians!"

I liked the songs he played on SNL.  Very rich, well-arranged pieces for a large band, and incorporating multiple stylistic shifts within each song.  Not prog in the slightest, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good or even complex.  It does, however, sound like a little bit of a departure from what passes for pop these days.

My wife will probably buy the album (she has a little crush on him I think) and I'll give it a listen too.

I didn't say the songs he performed on SNL were bad.  Just not prog.  Not something I'd pay to listen to, but better than most of what I've heard from him previously.  BTW, at least some of his backing tracks were pre-recorded.  You could hear his voice heavily in the harmonized accompaniment.  Angry (like Ian Anderson when Tull performed Songs From The Wood)

If that's the effect his music has on people I don't think I will ever find out how proggy he is!

So Timberlake ripped off Saga with both the cover and the title (20/20) just one year after the Saga release.

But Saga ripped off Cusicks cover ...same picture composition. But Cusicks cover looks a bit silly so maybe it was worth reusing the idea. They added Einstein , made it black and white. They had reasons for the 20/20 theme ,because of a risky eye surgery that the keyboardist went through, and it was their 20th studio album.

Otherwise they could have ripped off this..

Sorry Scott ... my comment wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the OP.

It'll just be pop songs with extended electronic intros/outros. Well at least it's some experimentation, the mainstream scene is getting insanely repetitive.

Yeah, next time we see him he will be showing a long beard, a Jon Anderson-like eastern shirt, bell-shaped pants and a blinking cape LOL

Song length alone doth not prog make. Otherwise, Don McLean would be in the database for American Pie, and Isaac Hayes for his cover of By The Time I Get To Phoenix.

I'm bringing earplugs back.

wait, did you really expect him to get Rick Wakeman on kybds and sing about broken-hearted elves? I mean this is certainly PROGRESSIVE comparing to what pop music has to offer these days. Of course you don't have to be profy in it, but hey, his new one for 2010s is what "The Colour of Spring" or "The Seeds of Love" for 1980s I think. And yes, long songs are what got me into it in the first place

I just asked my wife if she knew about this album and she'd already ordered it.   Hope it's good, cause I'm gonna hear it.

I never did like "Sexyback" or anything from that album that I heard. Doesn't mean I won't check out this new album, but I'm in no hurry.

My mind is wide-open to embrace Timberlake's new album as prog. I have not heard any of his songs outside of radio play, but if it's pop music with the same theatric/symphonic spirit as any other artist on this site then I will want to give it a fair try.
