Mirrelia is a relatively new progressive band out of Toronto, Canada. They grew out of the ashes of another, more hardcore prog band, Closed for Tonight (more on them in a bit).
Currently, they only have an EP released, with about 5 or 6 songs out, all of which are available for listening on their Myspace or YouTube channel. They remind me a bit of Fair to Midland in the way that their songs often draw on contrasting elements of dark, heavy guitar work, juxtaposed with light, melodic piano and upbeat rhythms, all accompanied by a startling clear, flexible voice. My personal favorite song is very light, with incredibly rich choruses, a fantastic walking bass line, and a simple but engaging drum beat. And the other two I like the most, more useful for showing off the metal that is core to their sound These two have a very dark, math metally feel to them, and the contrast between individual songs on a single CD really shows their progressive-mindedness and high musical skill. These guys are only recently getting some small attention, and I really want them to get as much exposure as possible. I notice that Closed for Tonight is already here, so it would be awesome to see the second and more refined band from these guys make it here as well.

Yes I remember this case, waiting to see if MIRRELIA were to release something
From a first listen, it seems to me less progressive than CfT but will move them to the team for evaluation. One EP may not be enough though and we might have to wait - anyway you can follow the evaluation here http://progfreak.com/Mirrelia-155874.html?path=pa/recent |

Yes, they are a bit less technical than Closed for Tonight, but still pretty proggy. I do believe Mirrelia has been getting a bit of attention as of late, so perhaps an album is on the way.

Hurray!
I'm really glad to see these guys get up here, they deserve all the exposure they can find.
