Each of these albums is currently PA's toprated live album for the year given.
Which do you think is best?

(There seems to be no live albums released in 1969, so for that year I have substituted the live half of Ummagumma, which is a favourite of several of us)

Playing the Fool just barely ahead of Yessongs. I love both of these.

A lot of 5 stars in this list, but the one I've listened to much often during the years is the Renaissance's.

Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

During the 70s & 80s I would've answered Live at Carnegie Hall but in the last ten I listen to and favor Playing the Fool. Never liked Yessongs much.

Renaissance is my fave live album of all-time, the versions here are 10 times better than the studio tracks. But it was still tough because Gentle Giant, ELP and Zappa are all 5 stars too. Yessongs is right up there but the sound quality is lacking so that knocks it down a bit.
Two live albums that definitely should have been on one of these lists: ELP "Welcome Back My Friends..." and Caravan "Caravan and the New Symphonia". Both are awesome. Marillion's "The Thieving Magpie" is great too. And let's not forget Sinkadus' "Live at Progfest '97"

Yeah - quite a few surprise absentees when I made these polls.  In 1995, for example, "Pulse" is only the fifth best live album.  I only chose one album from each year, and I chose whichever happened to be top of the list at the moment.

GG or Renaissance?

Or Strawbs, an unappreciated gem?

Or Colosseum Live, a superb album?

Or the best live prog album ever, Camel, A Live Record (but it's not there!!!!!!!)?

I'll go for Renaissance this time.

I love a lot of these albums.  Carnegie Hall, Yessongs, Umma, but my vote had to go to Playing the Fool.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

1978 is in part 4 of the poll - but Grobschnitt are top for that year, so no Camel until 1993 (& they're leading the part 3 poll at the moment)
