Fantastic, thanks so much to Thanos and to Jason for adding Hibernal, as well as the post rock and heavy teams for their consideration.  It's a great honour to be added to Progarchives. Smile

My thanks to the teams for having a listen!  So if you're waiting for a bio, here it is.  Please let me know if there's anything else you need.

"Hibernal is a progressive rock project created by Mark Healy of Brisbane, Australia.  With a strong focus on storytelling and atmosphere, Hibernal interweaves spoken word with instrumental music pieces to tell a compelling storyline that unfolds throughout the course of the album.

Musically, there are a number of different styles on offer, ranging from atmospheric post rock, to moody acoustic guitar arrangements and hard rock riffs.  Each of these elements are used to craft soundscapes that drive and complement the narrative.  The use of sound effects and a professional voice cast add to the immersion.

Like most concept albums, a Hibernal album should be experienced from start to finish for maximum effect.

The debut album ‘The Machine’, released in 2013, is an exploration of ambition, sadness and our choices in life told through crunching hard rock riffs and soaring guitar.  The story revolves around a man climbing the corporate ladder inside a powerful company, who finds that with each promotion he must sacrifice a part of himself."

Love it!

Heard The Machine today, and then had to listen to it again immediately to try and fathom the story. It is a compelling tale that plays out like an episode of Twilight Zone, and even at times reminded me of the movie Brazil, especially with the secretive corporation that are a destructive force to those who try and recoil from the system.

The autonomous machine like protagonist is wonderfully narrated, and I loved the character of Jane too who seems to be part of the system. It is a disconcerting storyline but certainly well told. The music really holds its own and becomes another character, the lead guitars are wonderful, and especially the rhythms and strong melodies. I loved it and hope it soon is added to progarchives. It is excellent from beginning to end.

i would recommend either Heavy Prog or Eclectic. It sounds like Riverside or Porcupine tree with touches of Pink Floyd.

Flaming fantastic whatever the case!!!!

Another update on this, I contacted Angel and was advised that the Post Rock team are in fact using Progfreak so I'll be able to keep track of it that way after all.

Just a note that the album is no longer free on Bandcamp as I'm trying to recover some production costs so I can get on with making another album.  Well, that's the plan anyway!  Tongue

If and when it's added to PA I can give reviewers free download codes etc if interested.

If the team to which the move is to be made also uses progfreak, then you will see them show up as 'new' under that team in the 'Recent Changes' progfreak link you previously quoted once the move has been officially made. However, the third 'move' vote cast in Heavy for Hibernal was to Post Rock again, and Post Rock team aren't currently using progfreak, so the answer to your question in this case is 'there isn't'. Cry

The two Post Rock team members that it might be best to contact about your evaluation in due course are probably angelmk and zravkapt, but the 'move' notification has not been posted in their team thread as yet, so please give them a little time. Thumbs Up

So I notice now that three members of the team have suggested Hibernal be moved on Progfreak, but I can't determine any more than that.  Is there any way to tell what their recommendation is on Progfreak?

The one sub suggested for the move was Neo, and the other was Post Rock, but no note has been placed in either team thread as yet, so the move hasn't actually been made thus far. Several subs are represented in this music, so it's not going to be an easy job selecting the most appropriate one to file you in...

Thanks Twseel.  Yeh I had no idea how to classify this thing.  A few people told me it sounded like Porcupine Tree so I decided to throw it at Heavy and see if it stuck.

The Heavy team looks like they're voting to move it but I'm not sure where:
http://progfreak.com/Hibernal-156103.html?path=pa/recent

Maybe even Crossover?  I'm really not sure.  I'd be interested to hear what other people think.

I've just heard it and I totally loved it! It has some post-rock, some neo, some psych, some electronic, but Heavy Prog?
Maybe Eclectic is an option?
