I've been getting into Can (as a part of my musical journey through krautrock) and I've heard Ege Bamyasi and Monster Movie - I think I like Monster Movie a little more, though both impressed me.

But what is your favorite from this list of the most popular Can albums?

Soundtracks is terrific too, second only to Tago Mago as my favourite Can album.

Mother Sky might be their best song.

Best: ... dunno.
Favorite: Monster MovieApprove Don't hear any funk elements there, but man, is this album's sound well engineered. Fizzling noises and machinist noises. Thumbs Up Nice guitar work. That ... is classic Can I wanna know.

Future Days is my favorite album, period.  So easy vote for me.  The other three are all can-tastic too though.  And I also echo the comment that Soundtracks is right up there with these.

Sort of depends on your mood at the moment, doesn't it? All have classic status written all over them, but for different reasons.

But to me, Tago Mago was their first masterpiece, both for content and sheer variety. It's like the Bitches Brew of Krautrock, and the 40th Anniversary re-issue beats any earlier editions into the dirt...

Not even man, Soon Over Babaluma is where it's at. But from the list, Future Days.

I wasn't too impressed with the remaster of Tago mago actually. I liked that older, grittier production on the past releases. They polished it way too much.

Pretty much agree with this along with your following post that puts Soundtracks right up there. Soundtracks might even be my favourite. I'll go with tago Mago from this poll though.

Tago Mago... just over Future Days for me. If this poll had been up a few months ago I would have said Future Days, but I have grown a whole new appreciation for Tago Mago, especially the second disc. And I also echo the comment that Soundtracks is right up there with these. Stern Smile

Babaluma is super groovy, I'll give you that, but it's too clean.  On Future Days you can literally hear the sweat.

If you can hear it on Future Days, you might as well be smelling and tasting it on Tago Mago. LOL

Tago Mago > Ege Bamyasi > Future Days > Monster Movie

They're all awesome, I'd also include Soundtracks which I actually prefer to Monster Movie.
