I've been listening to Pain of Salvation's debut over the last few days. I think it's often overlooked compared to The Perfect Element and Remedy Lane. It might be "less mature" than their later stuff, but I think it's a phenomenal progressive metal album.

What's your favorite song from it?

My top 3:

Winning A War- A classic more "traditional"-sounding progressive metal song.  POS seem to really be enjoying themselves here.

Oblivion Ocean- The combination of the song's lyrics and Daniel's voice is incredibly emotional and powerful.  An extremely sad song.

Stress- Technically dazzling and really unique-sounding.  Daniel's voice matches and plays off of the instrumentation really well.

Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

People passing by... that intro is slapping awesome along with the rest of the song. But Winning a War is up there too! I love Entropia! Probably their most technical one, crazy since it's their debut.

Damn thats hard, but I went with People Passing By. !(Forward), Stress, Revival and Nightmist are all pretty much just as good though.

I actually prefer the acoustic version of Oblivion Ocean from the 12:5 album, really powerful stuff.

I'm going with Oblivion Ocean. Haven't spun this in a long time though.
