Ghost In Mirrors was a 4 piece (Prog Metal, it is claimed) band hailing from West Kent. After a year only, the band self-released their first album that "shows more than a touch of promise and musical ingenuity" says Jerry Ewing from MetalHammer (now also editor of UK Prog magazine).

Well, I'm not too convinced about the Prog Metal tag...Sure there's some Prog Metal in this music - but whether it'll be enough to satisfy the blacksmiths we'll have to wait and see...It might be more suitable for adding in Heavy Prog...and could eventually land on Crossover's turf too, but then again of course I could be totally wrong about them, full stop - and they dont make it into the database at all! Tongue

Anyway...Together since 2008 (but disbanded early in 2011), the four members making up the band met at College where they were studying music.
They self released their first CD 'Ryder's Dismount' in July 2009 - available on iTunes, Napster and Amazon as well as in their hometown music stores (HMV & Ape in Tunbridge wells).
A live DVD was filmed in May 2010 at the Royal Victoria Hall in Tunbridge Wells, but as far as I can tell it was never actually released.

They toured France in 2010 including a headliner show in Paris, and their self-released 6 track album (July 2009) was reviewed as an “ambitious debut studio album” by Natasha Scharf for Classic Rock magazine presents PROG (Oct 09) and immensely approved amongst fans, local musicians and local & national medias (Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Glasswerk National, The Gig Guide, TotalRock Radio, TopRock Radio, BRfm, Phoenix Radio, BikerFm, WWPI in USA, The Courier Newspaper, The Index Magazine. The band toured twice in 2010 with Grammy Nominee Belladonna and  supported The Automatic, GhostWood and shared the bill with Gong and Steve Hillage Band during Lounge on The Farm Festival 2009. Ghost in Mirrors was an ambitious four piece progressive rock band having a simple but effective line up comprising of vocals, synth and glockenspiel (France Amann), drums (Tim), bass guitar (Blake), guitar (Phil Short) and occasionally adding a backing singer (Helen Garrod) to their live set. For acoustic performances Tim used a cajon and France played rhythm acoustic guitar.

Members
France Amann (Vocals), Tim Hall (Drums), Blake Brett (Bass), Phill Short (Guitars) .

"Over the years here are the influences people have in our music (no kiddin'): Tool, Perfect Circle, Porcupine Tree, Portishead, Deftones, Bjork, Dream theater, RATM, King Crimson, Opeth, Lacuna Coil, Massive Attack, Alanis Morisette, Sarah McLahlan."

Definitely hearing prog in there, in my opinion. Getting a sense of the Tool influence quite a lot, the APC and Porcupine Tree is showing quite a bit as well.

Personally, I think they have a good shot at Heavy Prog, but certainly not Prog Metal. If not Heavy, then Crossover should absolutely pick them up.

Maybe our stuff is more alternative, but we do have elements of prog, just by the fact that we are not interested in following the rules of what makes a 'hit' which gives us more freedom but as a result.
"Our songs are rarely less than seven minutes long and include long instrumental sections or epic solos, in that aspect I think it is prog.

I'm not entirely convinced about the heavy quotient - I'm inclined to think Crossover, but with respect to David's opinion let's give the Heavy Team first refusal. Great presentation as always of course Clap.
