RIP John Renbourn, co-founder of The Pentangle and one of the greatest acoustic guitarists ever born.

He passed away last Thursday at the age of seventy.

I was a fanatical follower of his and the late Burt Jansch's work both with Pentangle and in solo projects.

I finally finished posting two Pentangle reviews that I have been putting off for quite a while, and I feel like I need a good cry. So long, old friend.

I just wanted to make note and pay my respect to the passing of Stan Freberg.  A comic wunderkind who had a great effect on musical experimentation by breaking the fourth wall with satire.  He did much more than just make funny records like Spike Jones or inspire Weird Al ( who hasn't? Wink ), but attempted to change the nature and value of the art form.  Although his brilliant spoofs, both visual and aural, reflect the times, and may seem dated to some, his underlying purpose is more relevant than ever.

I think it merits a separate thread, but anyways....

Ornette Coleman has died.  A legend and a pioneer.
