Mammagamma, woke up to that song as my alarm tone for years. Just got a new phone and switched it to the guitar solo in To Be Over… I kinda miss da bass.

I agree I also like Some other Time.
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

So I think a long overdue marathon of their albums might be in the works....we'll see. It's been years!

Revisit the first 4 albums. That's the best work of APP in my opinion. A Marathon, by playing all 4 of those in one day will not be a waste of your time. . Also, your instincts are right where by a part of you is telling yourself to hang on to all those APP classics you have....listen to your Prog-gut!!! You gotta a good one.
Let me know what you end up doing.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I was just a young'un when I first heard "Time" played on Casey Kasem's "America's Top 30 Countdown" radio show. It seemed at the time like it might've been the most beautiful song I'd ever heard. It may be still.

just realised that 3 of those (in bold) are just 'Alan Parsons' , but not APP.  Try Anything Once  is okay but I fell asleep listening to it. Sleepy
Of the APP albums Eve seems to have a low rating so it doesn't look like I've got the best selection to go on.Unhappy

I believe 'A Valid Path' was Parsons last work to date. Also, that album one an award for its 5.1 surround sound mix.
I have not heard it yet, the album I mean. Let me know how that sits with ya. In the meantime, enjoy your APP adventure. Pyramid is very good. I'd say the best really. :)

I really like the Alan Parsons Project -- especially the first two albums.  I'm voting for "I Robot".  I Robot was one of the very first "rock" albums I was into as a nipper thanks to my brother's record collection.  It was until much later that I discovered the first album, which also blew my away.  Then I got a best of compilation and then the albums up to Eye in The Sky.

Worth the coin if you ask me. APP albums are so cheap to buy on CD. I also reccomend, and it just came out this year, the 35th deluxe edition of I-ROBOT. Very...very good. Under 10$ on Amazon as well. It's a steal.

My choice is 'Shadow of a Lonely Man', a melancholy ballad from Pyramid. I related to it strongly in the summer 0f 1990 when I had a summer job in Helsinki (where I don't live) and felt lonely there. John Miles' vocals are excellent in it.

Actually, memory values aside, I prefer 'Cask of Amontillado' from the Poe-themed debut album. It also happens to feature John Miles. Really effective string arrangement too!

This is a tough poll, I love many of this band's songs it's really hard to choose, it would definitely be easier to pick out whole albums for me, but going with the poll, I guess I'd go with Eye in the Sky, with The Eagle Will Rise Again, Silence and I, The Fall of the House of Usher, and many others as honorable mentions. That song (Eye in the Sky) in particular always puts a smile on my face (as do the others I mentioned, like I said, very tough poll), it's a wonderful ballad.
