All these albums were released forty years ago, in May 1973. Which do you prefer? I wonder how many prog albums being released in May 2013 will become as memorable as some of these?

Many people say that Yessongs has a bad production and a lot of "post-processing", but it was a triple vinyl with Roger Dean's sleeve design that you can open as a poster, it's pompous as YES were used to be, so what's more "prog" than this?
Hawkwind's album was excellent and Oldfield's first world success helped Sir Branson in building his empire. The only "bad" album listed is Wishbone Four which is the weakest in the band's first years, even though I like "No Easy Road". It's only rock'n'roll but...

Yessongs and Tubular Bells equally. But when it comes to voting in such a case, I'll always vote for the studio album.

Yessongs---exciting performance by the guys in their 20's---plus we get to hear Rick's versions of The Yes Album songs which is very often an improvement on the original.

Had to get one Novalis vote in there. It would be my more listened to album these days, having heard many of the other favorites on the list many times.

Went with Yessongs over Gong. I love Flying Teapot and "Witches Song" is my favorite Gong song, but I spent countless hours listening to Yessongs, especially the Close to the Edge side...

Wishbone 4.
Not as good as Argus (obviously) but still an excellent album.

Space Ritual again, a nasty piece of space travel that defies the ages.......Not that the other albums are any less brilliant but Hawkwind's gem is such an icon.....
BTW 1973 = bloody wow!

BTW 1973 = bloody wow! | Yeah, a great year - this poll is just one month of it. Might do another poll covering a different 1973 month later in the year
