I don't really listen to them, but I had a short period in high school where I listened to some of their albums. That's too young to go.

Aw... that's terrible.  I've got a few Slayer albums and have always been quite impressed by his playing.

RIP..Unhappy

Awful news.

He wrote some seriously memorable riffs.

So many people passing away these days. 2013 is a disaster for deaths. Claude Nobs, Kevin Ayers, Alvin Lee, Peter Banks, Clive Burr, Storm Thorgerson, Ritchie Havens, George Jones and now the main creative force and a guitarist from the memorable Slayer. F**k you spider for killing a legendary metal guitarist. And R.I.P. Jeff. Gosh. The myths about 2013 are true. Cry
I hope Slayer dosen't release this new album after Jeff's death.

^I'm sure it didn't help, but he was fighting a long-term infection in his arm (over a year). Evidently from a spider bit. Interestingly, anyone he has been around an urban ER in the U.S. knows "spider bite" in the arm comes with high suspicion of a less accidental cause.

Same age as me...

The guy wrote some seriously good riffs; one half of that guitar sound.

Don't listen to Slayer too much these days, but loved them in high school.  Regardless, 49 is way too young to go.  Best wishes to his family and friends in a difficult time.

Used to listen to Slayer A LOT in my younger years, every album from Hell Awaits to Seasons in the Abyss actually defined thrash metal in the 80's. Sad day for his family, friends, bandmates and the entire metal community.
R.I.P. Jeff, and sincere condolences to everyone close to the man.Cry

We see a lot of memorable people passing away. But I'm with you. I just said that there were many musicians dying in a short period of time.
