Fusion of alt-folk / singer-songwriter / traditional Argentinian music with occasional experimental flourishes. I have my doubts that this comes within the realm of Prog Folk but I'll ask the team to check it out.

Cleared for addition in Prog Folk. Svetonio, would you be able to provide a biography for his PA bandpage?

As always there isn't much I can find online in the way of a coherent bio and discography. Spotify, Bandcamp and grooveshark just list the ciaroscuro album but the senses project mentions a compilation called "senses". Is this really the same guy and where do the albums fit chronologically? Any help would be appreciated. Svetonio?

Tomás has dabbled in music, releasing various tracks in isolation, for a few years now, and you'll find many of them uploaded to soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/#tom-s-batista. He also had a blog back in 2011 where some of his early material was uploaded: http://tom-soundtracks.blogspot.co.uk/. In his YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/tb384/about) he says: "Here I'll upload all the music that I'm doing. Gameplay videos with soundtrack composed by me or my personal songs", but on his facebook (https://www.facebook.com/vostomasmusica) the only album he is actually selling (and also on cdbaby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/tomasbatista1 - where it is described as his debut album) is 'Claroscuro'.
Here are the cdbaby notes: Claroscuro is Tomas Batista's debut album, in which you'll find a well-combined mix from different genres such as indie, rock, pop, and on top of these, Argentina's folk music (where Tomas is from). Different instruments, from acoustics to electronics, keeps the listener's attention sharp to Tomas' compositions, and serve well to the unique vision expressed in these pieces. Almost all instruments are played by this exciting new artist. Nonetheless he invited prestigious musicians to do their part as well. Tomas Batista was born in Ushuaia, in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. He began playing the drums at the age of 12, and soon became the most renowned drummer in his city. He learned how to play the guitar and piano as well, once he moved to Rosario, one of the major cities in Argentina. He's influences are so wide that they cannot be listed, genres such as Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Classical, Indie, Hip Hop, Fusion, Experimental. Claroscuro represents a journey where emotions, thoughts, and images are the protagonists. Made through the process of years, this album puts together 12 pieces, that will keep you interested in what this artist has to say. All tracks composed, performed, recorded and mixed by Tomas Batista Except track 8, composed by Warren Harrison and Christa Belle. Instruments used: acoustic and electric guitar, darbuka, synth. Electric and Acoustic guitar in track 5 and 8 by Francisco Batista. Contrabass in track 7 and 8 by Fermin Suarez. Mastering by Billie Gomez. Cover photo by Jimena Lopez Zaric. I would be inclined to just add the 'Claroscuro' album to his page, and perhaps mention the 'Senses' compilation in the bio along with the other little mini-projects he tends to indulge himself in - such as the gameplay videos with soundtracks that he talks about on YouTube. It seems he just called the compilation 'Senses' because he made it available via the Senses Project - a HTML5 multimedia project: http://sensesproject.com/. See this twitter pics link: http://twicsy.com/i/9YBA2, as well as the link that Sve gave in the o.p. Of course you could always contact him in person for a proper bio - either at [email protected], via http://tomasbatista.bandcamp.com/contact?b=1280067604&n=tomas%20batista, or alternatively via facebook messages. |
