Despite it being quite a miserable album for the Beatles to make, I find the songs on Let it Be to be some of their greatest. However, I think Phil Spector's original mix is almost appalling, especially the strings sections he added. Let it Be... Naked, the 2003 remix, is way better! It's much more representative of what the Beatles wanted out of those sessions; a album that, after all the overdub heavy and intricate songs and albums they made in 66-68, was a breath of fresh air; a live rock album.

Agree with all of that.

My favorite Beatle album, esp the Naked version.

I'll take the original version.

I like being naked.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me

I have to go for the original mainly because of the bits McCartney cut out of the Naked version e.g. Dig It.

Hi,

The original.

Specially when the whole film told you about the Beatles and why they were no longer getting along, and the heavyness and dedication to studio time and making it "Beatles" had taken its toll. So, to take all that and remix it, would be almost like doing exactly what they were fighting against ... and there really is no need for it.

The only version that will be worth seeing and getting, is the one that is still hidden and has all the great little bits that appeared all over the bootlegs ... most of that is still hidden and nowadays, no one will know about it, or have any idea what it is that I, or any others, are referring to.

I wish I had kept all those albums! They told a story ... that is lost in the shuffle and what you are left with is so ..... much makeup and images ... that you lose sight of the people themselves and what became of them, and why there were problems!

But we like stories and lies ... so history must be right and the details not!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I slightly prefer the Naked version over the original version, however, I actually quite like both versions and Let It Be is a great album, IMO.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Original version, maybe because it's the one I grew up with, and not nesseccarily better. It's just when I listen to "Across The Universe" and don't hear the trippy choirs & such, it feels unfinished to me. Not so much naked as, say, missing a limb.

Me too Approve
But in this case I'll vote for the original. I actually can't imagine The Long And Winding Road without the orchestra.

I'm serious man, it's beautiful.
I grew up listening to the song like this without knowing there's a naked version, and I never thought the orchestra is out of place. Maybe if I listened to both versions for the first time I would think differently, but for now it's flucking perfect!

It depends. I honestly prefer the stripped down versions of "Across The Universe" and "The Long And Winding Road" that are found in the Anthology series. Not that the originals were terrible by any means; speaking of which, the title track from original Let It Be has some fantastic horn arrangements.

One thing that disappoints me about Naked is that Paul McCartney (assuming he was the one that headed the release) missed an opportunity to slip in the full, unedited, six minute version of "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" in there. I would have paid full price for Naked simply for that.

Yeah, although I think it would work better on the second disk, with Fly on the Wall.

Switch the order around and you have my opinion. Just comes down to what I'm used to rather than drastic differences in enjoyment.

That's already available on Anthology 3. It was never really connected with the Let It Be album and would have sounded out of place imo. What he really missed is the full version of "Dig It" which is knocking around on various Let It Be bootlegs.
