Topic: Overlooked Gems Posted: May 07 2013 at 09:10 |
I tried to find one album for each genre that I very much enjoyed and that also was rated less than 50 times on PA. If a genre is missing, that means I've only enjoyed the more well known albums so far,
Please feel free to vote even if you have only heard one of the albums.
Thanks

This is a tough one between Lands End and Alphataurus. Both of those albums are excellent.

The only one of these I know is the Richard Pinhas one. Just goes to show how overlooked these are, I can't even vote, lol.

I have Grayceon's S/T and Niacin's Organik. They do their cover of Zappa's King Kong on that one. Both are really good albums; I am not sure which one would get my vote. I've not heard any of the others.

I voted for the only one I have...Richard Pinhaus - Chronolyse. It's a quirky & cool album filled with short Moog pieces based on a variation and then the more traditional prog band 30 minute song "Paul Atreides". When I discovered Pinhaus' band Heldon, I loved the Fripp tone he used to get so I started referring to him as "The French Fripp"

I'm sorry, but anything called "The Tea Party" must not be allowed to win. Otherwise, we must say goodbye to all semblance of civilization as we know it.

Lard Free's debut (as well as the band as a whole) is quite overlooked IMO.

Don't know much of the records in this list, but The Tea Party's The Edges of Twilight is a great album in any given circumstance. It therefore gets my vote !

Supporting my chosen brand by voting for the superb recent RPI follow-up by Alphataurus - AttosecondO. It's a glorious album, not a bad moment on it, great confident vocals too - and the vinyl version looks out of this world. I think word of mouth will eventually keep growing and it will become very appreciated. Just another wonderful example of a very respectable and exciting comeback from a classic 70s Italian band than can keep the younger guys on their toes!

The Tea Party just over Lard Free. Both five star albums imo.
