I defined "Classic Era" as the era in which the albums are consistently rated at around 4 stars, though there may be an album/albums that are lower within the selection.

Counterparts.  What an album.  Presto, Caress of Steel and Grace aren't too far behind though.

Grace Under Pressure, probably my 2nd favorite album of theirs overall, after Moving Pictures

Hard not to go with Counterparts. It's the best one here.

Could be several of these, but there's a special place in my heart for Grace Under Pressure.

I love Rush's age of electric sound from 1981-1987, so out of these choices I'm picking GRACE UNDER PRESSURE.

Caress of Steel, closely followed by Clockwork Angels. Hold Your Fire is third.

Caress
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

GUP.
Looks like I need to get Counterparts some day.  After three disappointing albums in a row I never got that one.

Caress. It's so damn underappreciated.
I consider drone metal to be progressive...

I considered this one too, since I regard it as a great album, but finally went for Grace Under Pressure.
