They moved away from the Ivy League themes from their first two albums, and they stepped it up from a technical standpoint. The album is more varied too.
Have you tried out Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear? Those are US artists I'm very much into at the moment.
If we're talking electronic though(which we aren't, but I digress...), then F*ck Buttons is the go-to act! Tarot Sports rank among my most treasured modern electronic albums.

Yes, I know them. I actually am living in a place right now where seeing foxes and bears aren't so uncommon (in the Smoky mountains). So listening to Burial and Kompakt is the way I get myself back to human society and civilization Listening to "White Winter Hymnal," "Colorado," "Campfire" might send me over the edge. I might end up growing a beard, wearing love beads, gathering wood and doing yoga, bringing me one stop closer to learning the banjo, singing country songs and buying Grateful Dead t-shirts.

Anyways, sounds like the perfect place for electronic music indeed. I love having the natural world unfold before me, whilst listening to slow moving bip bips
Oh and the last 'character' described in your post sounds uncannily like a description of me - bar the banjo.....

I think if I weren't already one step away from being immersed in that world, and could listen to that music in a safe and secure European urban environment, I might be able to appreciate it... (Sorry, for the past decade I've been living in cities in Europe and China and only recently moved back to the US; I'm still in denial and haven't accepted it yet

Oooh, yes! I love most of what I've heard from Grizzly Bear so far. Heard some interesting stuff about Vampire Weekend on Swedish radio today. Worth checking out?
You know, I've never really checked these guys out, even from the hype. They seem like an ideal band for me, but I've just never had the motivation to give them a good listen. I saw Pitchfork's special with Steve Buscemi and the boys though. That was neat.

I love both bands. I tend to stick to Fleet Foxes a little more, but both are wonderful. F*ck Buttons are incredible as well. And hey man, if you want some new electronic, check out Four Tet and Mount Kimbie!
I have Four Tet's Rounds, which is brilliant. Definitely beginning to dig it more as the sun starts getting warmer. Mount Kimbie is brand new to me, but I always look forward to new electronic music, so thanks a billion man! I'll wire you the money in pesos as per usual.
