Elora are a six-piece band from Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France, who actually began as a three-piece in 2004 consisting of Damian, Jean-Vincent and Lionel (respectively on vocals, bass and guitar). I opened a thread for them just over a year ago in 'Unsigned Bands': http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=85596.

"Elora was born in 2004. She is the daughter of Jean-Vincent Fillipini. Another Elora was born in 2005: A band! The band of Jean-Vincent ( bass ), Lionel Giacobbé ( guitar), Sébastien Vigne ( drums ) and Patrice Cannone ( keyboards ). Two voices complete the outfit from Marseille, France: Anastasia Moussali and Damien Dahan.
Little Elora inspired the creation and the imagination of the band. It’s a
... progressive rock band with several influences, ranging from the 70’s like Genesis, Pink Floyd and Magma, to modern acts like Porcupine Tree, Lazuli or Riverside. An influence is an influence and they are modeling influences like a parent can do with his child. Their rock is strong and melodic, sometimes deep and full with melancholy.
In the beginning Elora did a lot of local shows around Marseille to earn some money for an album release. The result was a 4 track self released EP
-"En rêve" (In Dreams) in 2010 and an invitation to the Prog Sud festival. In the meantime a new drummer joined Elora - Julien Beaumont.
2013 will be the year to become more public. With the debut under their belt, invitations to five renowned european Prog festivals are confirmed. Prog Sud and Crescendo in France; Veruno Prog in Italy; Prog66 Meeting in Belgium and the Progressive Promotion Festival in Germany, the home of their record label.
The band is French and they sing in French. Something new to PPR, but very exciting and probably not the last of that kind."

The album has been available for a few weeks ago now, and is doing well, with plenty of positive reviews. They were featured on Brian Dade's AiiRadio.net show on Tuesday 7th May:

AiiRadio presents...'An Evening With ELORA'

French band ELORA release their debut album, 'Crash', shortly, on respected German label, Progressive Promotion Records.
...
Join the band's drummer, Julien Beaumont, as he chats live, via skype, about the band, the new album..which we'll hear in full...
and the various festivals the band will perform at this year... including the Progressive Promotion Festival at Das Rind, Russelsheim in September...alongside RPWL, Galahad, Retrospective, Cosmos, Argos and Unto Us.

This is a very good album indeed, and the band strongly deserves a place in the archives, I feel.  Embarrassed

I second the above "agree," these guys are quite interesting.

By the way, yam yam, can you not simply add these guys to the Crossover charts, as you are a member of the team, or do you also need to pass it through the process? Or do you just enjoy making the most in-depth and well-structured  submissions posts ever seen? Tongue

Yeah, anyone with access to the cz can post their suggestions directly in any of the team threads - this includes Prog Reviewers, who also enjoy 4-star status on here. However, I always post my suggestions in this forum rather than in the cz, firstly so that all forum members and also casual visitors to the site have the opportunity to listen to the bands/artists, secondly so that as many of our members as possible have the opportunity to add their comments to the debate, and thirdly to provide (for new artists in particular) some extra exposure via google searches etc, since our New Suggestion threads show up very prominently in them as a rule.

I always include a maximum amount of info in the topic so that poor ol' Chris doesn't have to spend too long trawling the Internet for it, and can just listen to the samples and hopefully pass the band/artist on.

Of course, with a good many of my suggestions I ain't got a clue where to send them anyway - so I have to rely on Chris's expertise in those cases! LOL

Yes, it's more transparent and public to post thread here, but also it's faster and more to the point to post directly into team's threads. Of all my suggestions, most of them were sent directly to team's thread, but some here.

But it happens to us that we know it's Prog, just not sure what subgenre we'll put it into, so posting here is good in such cases.

Anyway - CLEARED for Crossover.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"
