Topic: Insanely Bad Cover Arts Posted: May 18 2013 at 12:02 |
Ok, for this one I thought I'd do things a little different I have a thing for overt bad taste cover arts, so here I've gathered 25.
Tricky thing about the poll though, is that do you vote for the one you find the most funny, ugly - or both? Or the one you like the most? You choose people
Here are the contestants: (sorry I couldn't find a smaller one with the right colours )

Missus Beastly is terrifically tacky, terrible, and tasteless. Also all-out amusing.

Worst?: It's between Guru Guru and Omega for me. Voted Omega, because. I actually like: Birth Control - Operation Eeeet da bebehs!!! Panta Rei - Panta Rei A tad creepy.
Pôle - Rizet So daggy and retro that it's actually cool in its own way. What kind of music is contained within?
Samla Mammas Manna - Måltid Hey one I've actually heard! Yeah, I like the cover
Frank Zappa And The Mothers Of Invention - Weasels Ripped My Flesh Another one I've heard! The album art is a decent parody of that magazine cover or whatever it was.
Eulenspygel - 2 I've seen this one on a few "worst album covers" lists. I think the cover art is really good, but that's just me. Very strange. Makes me wanna check out the album some time.
National Health - National Health Slightly an "odd one out" inclusion to me but I guess I can understand if someone would find it a bit lame. I personally like the cover.

Like I said, you're free to vote on whatever grounds you find adequate A lot of these I happen to like myself. The Operation art work is great - so is Nevergreen! and Måltid and Eulenspygel. Yep I could literally go on and on
The music you'll find in that Rizet album is a blend of electronic experimentations, psych and avant-guarde. It bears absolutely no connotations to the cover art.

I agree - I really dig that one. Reminds me a tad of the three boob woman from Total Recall

Good to know people like some of these covers.
Hmmm, it certainly doesn't bear any connotations... Interestin'

I actually like the Catipilla, Birth Control, Eulenspygel, Octopus and Peter Hammill covers listed here. Fireballet gets the nod for worst of the bunch here, and there are some bad ones. Finally, I don't know quite what to think of The Lovers. Never quite saw a cover like it (except on DVDs in the back of the videoshop).

Unless it's a widely known fact that folks who play synths also smoke the pipe?

Yep Ya Ho Wa has some of the most bizarre covers. The one featured underneath with the people flexing their longbows next to the gangsta ride, is beyond ridiculous.

There should have been more I tell ya, preferably while they play the synths.

^ It's not too late for you Gabe. Now you know how to look when you make that avant-guarde Berlin School album...
Also if this poll didn't need to be in the prog section here, then I'd definitely have included this little saucy thing:

I have always hated Indelibly Stamped!! I kind of like The Future Now; it's slightly unhinged like Peter Hammill himself lol.

^I don't know what to make of that Hammill cover He looks like a man who's spent the month in an insane asylum.

Wow - the music community hasn't been too friendly to ducks eh?
I feel the same way about flamingos. They're not funny.

You know, now it's also possible to shave with mustard?
I'm not entirely sure why I thought of that.
