One of the most unique and innovative musicians of his era, and certainly one of the most eloquent.

He was able to make magic with a modest Farfisa.

A real genius

Met him years ago doing a poetry gig with Michael McClure I believe.  He wasn't the most friendly guy that night, but I don't fault him....it has to be a drag being approached by "enthusiastic" youngsters all the timeLOL.  Have a lot of respect for those 3 guys, it couldn't have been easy dealing with Morrison night after night.

Not a huge fan but still a fun band.

Just wanted to say I'm sad that we lost a great keyboardist today. Ray was a gem. Playing left hand bass live all the time and still doing what he did with his right hand was no easy trick. His style of playing contributed greatly to the Doors' music.

R.I.P., Ray.

Instantly recognisable keyboard sound, which epitomised the 60s for me - a real loss to music.

RIP

A wonderful musician, probably just as important to The Doors sound as Jim Morrison. You couldn't imagine the band without his otherworldly keyboards. My favourite:

RIP Ray.

Jean and I just heard the news on the radio. Sad loss; one more excellent musician for St. Peter's ever growing house band.

Sad loss Cry
I wonder who would know about the existence of the Rhodes piano bass was it not for Ray.

Sorry for small pedantic correction on Ivan's comment but his organ (after having first used a Vox Continental combo) was a Gibson G101 which indeed looks quite like a Farfisa (btw at the right we can see a bit of the Vox Continental he used in the beginning).
