You are entitled (a) to your opinion and (b) not to take any grief for your opinion. I used to think CTTE was the best epic ever and while I still think it's brilliant, I think Gates of Delirium is better. Also three of the four Tales songs and even arguably Awaken. Now that one Micky is going to give me hell for.

Just to balance things out a bit...I think Gates of Delirium and Tales of Soporific Oceans ( a nod to Dark Elf...?) are overrated .

GENESIS was the greatest band :) Sure "Foxtrot" is better than "Close to the Edge". Interestingly, "Meddle", PFīs best album is surprisingly underrated here on PA. Belongs to top 20, at least. But it isnīt. No wonder, some people are just ignorant, some just plain stupid.

Heh, kinda like them too, "Jeremy Bender" especially. Well not so much anymore "Are You Ready, Eddie?" because it truly is a filler and nearly spoils that great album. Honestly, I have never taken it seriously (musically why they played simple rockīnīroll, there were thousand other ordinary rock acts at the time, why even bother ? just ridiculous). No, I donīt listen it ever again. And Frank Zappa once asked: Does humour belong to music? Apparently it should not, for some people :)

Really. Most of Earthīs population donīt have slightest idea what the heck those could be.
Here on PA, "Nursery Cryme" from 1971 is a criminally underrated GENESIS album, alongside "Trespass", 1970. Period.

Overrated?
I immediately think of Steven Wilson.
I mean, there's some great stuff. And Gavin Harrison is a really great drummer, but mostly it's just enjoyable prog-pop. Never really understood why it was so popular in comparison to anything else.
Overhyped? I don't know. The result is it irritates me, and I don't want to listen to Porcupine Tree anymore.

Heh, exactly the same to me. I really had to struggle not to fall asleep during actually listening to the whole 3LP set "The Moon Moves Sideways" (or whatever) album by PT. Well, nothing against them as I sold the album to a Polish guy for 100 euros. And he couldnīt be happier. I had paid 18 euros for it, so that album is a special for me, I mean was

Geez, has it only been ~10 months since I first posted these? My have my opinions changed...
- Supper's Ready? I've no doubt come to terms with this one and have a blast every time it comes on. I still wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, though, or even a bonafide "prog epic", just a very creative medley with a joyfully over-the-top ending. Overrated, but very good.
- Thick As A Brick?
 This one gets even less interesting every time I hear it. No doubt overrated. - Larks' Tongues? It really makes a difference getting to hear this on quality audio equipment and not just computer speakers. It really loses a lot of power without the proper dynamic contrasts. Part one is now one of my top 10 favourite prog tracks and part two is also great.
- Starless? I'd say this one is quite fairly rated. Not one of my top 10 Crimson tracks, per se, but no doubt top 20 and I can understand why others love it as much as they do.
- Shine On? Very much overrated as far as prog goes, but it's still an excellent slow blues track.
- Gates of Delirium? Definitely one of the biggest growers in my library. At first I thought Soon was okay but the rest was an overbearing mess with grating synth sounds. But after a dozen or so listens, it really just pieced together and now it's one of my favourite Yes tracks. Not overrated at all.
- And You And I? Hmmm, not sure where I stand on this one. There's nothing that I dislike about it, but it just really astounds me that some people can consider it better than the other two tracks on Close To The Edge. It's an objectively great song, but it just doesn't make me feel much. So a little overrated from my point of view.
- Lucky Man: Still find it boring.
- Discipline: Still find it unlistenable.
- Echoes: I have no problem at all with more ambient, atmospheric music; Tangerine Dream are incredible at it. But this one still strikes me as a too sparse and uninspired. So I'd still call it very overrated.
- Long Distance Runaround: Kind of like this one now. It's definitely not one of classic Yes' better songs, but the instrumental parts are cool enough.
As for some new ones: - Anything SWilson/Porcupine Tree - This goes for every last track I've heard from them; technically good, technically enjoyable, but has the man had an original thought in his life? Everything I've heard from him has just sounded cliched and predictable.
- Rush - Cygnus X-1 (both books) - I think what puts me off of Rush's "proggier" tracks is the fact that there's nothing melodic about them at all. Just riffing on top of riffing after more riffing, and it sounds so incredibly, incredibly tedious to get through for more than 5 minutes at a time, no matter how good the instrumental performances are.
- Genesis - Watcher of The Skies - The mellotron intro is not nearly as awe-inspiring as others would make it out to be, it's just a minute and a half straight of chords with no lead-up, build-up or context. And then the verses are kind of irritating.
- Marillion - Kayleigh - Sappy plastic synth-pop
- King Crimson - Epitaph - Blasphemy, I know...I actually still quite enjoy this one but it loses magic every time I hear it. This will forever be Greg Lake's best vocal performance, and a moving one at that, but the instrumental accompaniment is really quite bland and the lyrics aren't Sinfield's best. His most relevant and down-to-Earth lyrics, perhaps, but that's not what I'm looking for when I put on a King Crimson album! As it stands right now, I'd consider In The Wake of Posiedon to be the true masterpiece ballad from early King Crimson, with this one just being the warm-up.
Of course, as with the ones I listed back in January, I'm sure if I give them enough time I'll warm up to some...and give up on the others!

Let's see. I find these to be the most overrated:
1 Karn Evil 9 - I was forced to listen to it once. The longest half an hour so far in my life. 2 - ... nothing comes close, not even more ELP
