My brother got after me today about why I still buy music and not download. Long story short, at the end of our conversation I he wanted to go to the record store and by some albums.

Yes. I converted my own blood to do the right thing.

Amen, brother...To me, whether it's vinyl or CD, I simply like to own something PHYSICAL for my money. I'm not much of a data hoarder, and I like to look over the CD booklets or LP sleeves too much!

It's the same for me as a 20+ year comic book collector...there's a big move with them being made on the digital mediums, and believe me, they simply POP on those tablet screens, but it's not the same thing as me having a physical copy to treasure forever.

I don't know how old your brother is, but I guess lots of younger people don't have that thrill of going into a store and discovering some elusive or unexpected musical surprise! I still remember buying a CD and having to wait until school finished, or getting home on the bus to anxiously listen to it!

You can tell lots about a person by their musical taste."

Point being, if he discovered a pwog collection there he would inform his assistant, "'  'pooter nerd. Check it out. Breaking the password gonna be a bitch."
It's "Taggart" and you have to roll your R's when you say "there's been a murrrderrrr".

Junior....please...

I've been into prog for twenty years, feel like I'm old hat already, and I sure don't have this mentally damaged, moronic, distorted reality view of prog and their fans.

You think you're so much better than the rest of us, mister PWOG MASTERMAN....?

Yeah, what's it got you...nothing but a bunch of good reasonable people thinking you're an idiot....who'd actually feel sorry for you if you weren't such a delusional accusing prick.

Seems like all of the Knobster's threads degenerate into silliness......Wink.

but as far as vinyl I still have all of the old vinyl prog and psych from the old days and bought some used vinyl over the years but when cd's firmly took hold I stopped looking for it. I collected both styles and I have a friend who also collected both styles and vinyl  for many years and he prefers prog  as do I.
IMO it's a matter of age more than nerds or styles.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Yeah, but I do understand about the convienant factor that I pods can bring!
Personally I love them. I've got 3 myself loaded with prog! lol.
The thing is though, a lot of mp3 music files are far too compressed, so I much prefer CDs lossless audio quality format especially for my HD digital equipment. I pods do serve their purpose for portability and accessability. Boy, I remember when I carried around a CD player in my pocket of my jacket in the early to late 90's. That was a drag....especially if you didn't have the anti-skip protection feature. Sony was good for that though. I could shake the hell out of mine and nothing would happen.

Anyway. Let's just drastically go off-topic and ruin knobby's thread. I'm game. I can be a sh*t too. Lol
