What are your thoughts on this video?

(Btw it is not my video)

I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

I watched 4 minutes and was already annoyed.

I hate hearing the "classics" lectures and how modern music sucks and elitist splurg from a hypocrite.
This video is just like any other from a teen that likes the classic rock bands.

By this point, I could care less what guys like him think. If music does something positive to you, knock yourself out. I may disagree with your tastes, but I'm not going to stop you from liking something. "Do what thou wilt", as the wise men say.

Well.....I certainly agree that classic rock is far better than most of the junk being called 'rock' today and those that are doing solid rock are using the classic rock bands as a template. It's a no brainer.
But the pop bands he mentions like Jonas bros etc aren't taken seriously by anyone who appreciates good music anyway so he seems to overstate his case and is comparing apples to oranges imo.
There have always been serious rock musicians and pop artists who are just selling their wares.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

The same, except I didn't even bother to watch the video. Good/bad music ratio is the same as ever (if not larger), it's just that so much attention is given to mainstream plastic acts; if someone wants to find good music now, they'll find plenty of it, we even have Soundcloud and Bandcamp, which made discovering obscure artists a whole lot easier. Furthermore, I can safely say that right now is the best moment in music ever, since we have collective music of the past behind us. People in the 70s for sure couldn't walk around listening to Radiohead, but we can go anywhere listening to Radiohead or Can (or Bach) if we want. In short, the quality of music is not a problem; the media and people focusing on "bad" music maybe is, but then again not paying attention works (at least for me).

Well, even if I may disagree with many of the lines of reasoning used, I guess that if I had the time and patience to make a video of this sort, I would say pretty much the same LOL

I guess when I was a kid I thought this way. I belonged to the Disco Sucks club. Now I just don't care what other people listen to. I used to worry that good music was going to disappear because not enough people listened to it and bad music was going to take over the world. But I was just a dumb kid.

The last thing he says in the video is pretty funny. "...what I will criticize are the fangirls and fanboys who place too much emphasis on their own preferences and their own opinions." It's so hypocritical it's hard to believe he didn't notice it. It's so over the top that maybe the whole thing was a parody and that was the punchline.
