Focus. I still think they're laughed at by a lot of people cuz they had a sense of humor ("Hocus Pocus," "Round Goes The Gossip," "I Need a Bathroom"), but their music knowledge, song structures and command of their instruments was so far beyond many, many of their contemporaries. I find myself playing more of 1970s Focus today than I do Yes or Genesis or King Crimson!

All excellent bands and most of them are already highly rated so I did not vote for them.

Stackridge and Fruupp deserve far more attention than they get so I voted for them. I gave Jonesy a vote too as they are a good band that I think almost no-one has heard of.

Three votes is enough or I would have given Agitation Free a vote too.

Who's overrated? Who's underrated? I don't know and honestly, I don't care. Going with my favorite from the list : Supertramp.

Underrated....? Does anyone have the stats on which of these band have the lowest ratings here at PA..?
I like Jonesy and Agitation Free and they don't get mentioned all that much.

I voted Eloy and Le Orme.

Kind of an odd poll as several of these bands reached a worldwide fan base (Kansas, Styx, Supertramp, Focus, Kraftwerk, Gong, Soft Machine) and were readily available in mainstream record stores like Tower and The Wherehouse...as such I don't see how they could possibly be considered "underrated".

If you read my post again , you can reach certain levels to reconsider //

Ummm...I did read your post several times and stand by my opinion.  Kansas, Styx, Supertramp, Focus, Kraftwerk, Gong, & Soft Machine received worldwide acclaim, record distribution and credit and therefore can't be considered "underrated" Wink

What i Precisely mean by Underrated is , Do you believe that , if they use to have another Label Companies , another Recordings Studios , different Locations to Promote their Releases , perhaps another Mentality to Promote their Albums , do you believe that , they can Reach what they really deserves !!!?  Wink

^ That one and Gazuse are my favorites. I've never been a fan of Gong really but those are good fusion albums.

Got it...thanks for the clarification.  Based on that, I'd add Gong to my original votes for Eloy and Le Orme Thumbs Up

I voted for Gong. Could've just as easily voted for Focus. It's really sad that Jade Warrior can't even make it onto an underrated pioneers poll. They're my real vote.

Eloy because I love them but I would never call them 'pioneers' as such. In fact Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes sounds like a fantastic tribute album to Floyd and Tangerine Dream. They were never ashamed to take a winning formula and make it 'better'. Also production quality was the best if you like that big prog sound.

Can
Goblin
Le Orme
New Trolls

These are my choice of four bands I always felt should have received more credit due. True, all the bands mentioned in the Poll are great and I'm aware this can become a little subjective but my heart goes out to these.
