There's a few good ones on here, but Areknames gets my vote. Hardly a typical Italian prog band, more along the lines of Anekdoten meets Porcupine Tree meets VdGG. Terrific vocalist, nice sorrowful moods, plenty of light and shade. A wonderful modern progressive band!

I've enjoyed some of the work of others on this list like Hostsonaten and The Watch too.

I think the most recent one I've heard was the latest from Mangala Vallis, and if I recall, the vocals sounded like that guy from Pain of Salvation, so definately not for me.

If you like Areknames i recommend you Men Of Lake (Ouch!!! i forgot to add them in the list) , "Out of the Water" it´s my favorite album, they sound like a mellow vdgg meets KC

I'll take Moongarden simply for their Round Midnight album, also The Watch brings me a lot of enjoyment.
"The wind is slowly tearing her apart"

"Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN

Hostsonaten, followed by Mangalla Vallis and Ezra Winston. The EW album I heard is a lost masterpiece IMO.
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

Hostsonaten! Summereve and Winterthrough are stunning. No vocals though!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I've heard about a third of these bands and Asgard is my favourite by a mile.  I especially love Esoteric Poem.

For me too, very tough to pick only one
From the list i consider masterpieces:

Asgard - "Arkana" and "Imago Mundi"
Ezra Winston - "Ancient Afternoons"
Moongarden - "Roundmidnight"
Eris Pluvia - "Rings of earthly light"
The Watch - "Vacuum"
Arenakmés - "In case of loss"
But all thebands are great

Thanks Presdoug, never heard about Libra, <span id="result_" ="short_text" lang="en"><span ="hps">What</span> <span ="hps">album</span> <span ="hps">would you recommend</span> <span ="hps">to</span> <span ="hps">them?</span></span>
Also would recommend Musica e Parole, and the English language version of that album, simply known as "Libra". Also "Winter Day's Nightmare".

This was easy for me, I love Moongarden.
-------someone please tell him to delete this line, he looks like a noob-------

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.
