I searched for this and I don't think a thread like this has been done before. So, pick your favorite.

Mine would have to be Dave Stewert. Love his work with Egg, Hatfield and National Health. Closely followed by Robert Wyattt and Phil Miller.

I like many of 'em, but I'm a Wyatt-freak, so that's my vote.

Hugh Hopper.  Love that fuzz bass, and I think he's a fine composer.

Hillage <3
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

The Hillfish followed by Dave Stewart. Maybe that's why I like Space Shanty so much.

Daevid Allen.  While I like many of the bands represented by other members in this poll, GonG's accomplishments stand way above the rest.  I can't imagine a world without Camembert, Flying Teapots, Angel's Egg's or Pothead Pixies Wacko

This is immensely impossible.

Mine too, closely followed by Richard Sinclair and Pip Pyle.
Both made some excellent compositions, and Richard has a great voice too.

Richard Sinclair for me, as Caravan is by far my favourite Canterbury band, though I do like Egg and Soft Machine.

Never liked Gong and their hippy trippy music.

Richard Sinclair for that whimsical voice of his. Dave Stewart for being probably the best keyboardist I have heard.
